So there wasn't a plug on the rear edge of the door that gave access to a screw holding the cap on? I swear I saw the standard BMW setup when I was looking over the Supra a few weeks ago. Pull the plug out, use a long T-25 screwdriver, and loosen the screw for the cap to come off. You only need to pull the door panel to remove the guts of the mechanism (which will also accomplish what you want but is overkill).Entire door panel has to come off. The screw behind the doorhandle inside the car, Toyota didnt put them in properly. You have to feed your hand underneath and inside to hold a bolt and unscrew it.
I had a tech from Porsche /McLaren come, a buddy of mine (he said the doors are similar setup as a 911) if you have someone remove it. Toyota was afraid and not trained yet LOL
Generally most cars all you need is the side screw for the door handle. Supra you needed to take off the door panel it has another screw behind white plastic that you cant get to without removing the panel. Doorhandle has 2 screws holding it.So there wasn't a plug on the rear edge of the door that gave access to a screw holding the cap on? I am surprised if the Supra deviated from the standard BMW way of doing things, since the door handles and manufacturing are straight out of the BMW parts bin. Not saying a Porsche/McLaren tech missed the obvious, but remember the components and manufacturing on the Supra are straight out of the BMW cook book. BMW parts diagrams have been very helpful in deciphering the Supra.
Wow, that is nuts. So I guess that's one more minor pain in the ass to deal with when wrapping the car. You guys have a whole lot of patience to get into all these little details for the install prep (never mind the complexity of the installing the film itself).Generally most cars all you need is the side screw for the door handle. I mean, youād definitely want to PPF matte paint any way but this process is a much more expensive way to get matte (at least $6,000 for just good matte PPF before ceramic coating or anything) than getting Phantom.I've never seen someone put matte ppf on a gloss/metallic paint, but it looks great!. If I was getting turbulence gray I might have looked into doing this to get a matte gray without spending an extra $1500.
I was thinking that most owners will get some PPF anyways regardless of color, so if you really wanted to save money, you would skip the $1500 Phantom charge. I made the assumption that there would not be a $1500 difference between a full standard and matte PPF application. I could very well be wrong. Personally I will not be putting matte over yellow because that color is meant to shine IMOI mean, youād definitely want to PPF matte paint any way but this process is a much more expensive way to get matte (at least $6,000 for just good matte PPF before ceramic coating or anything) than getting Phantom.
Hahahah thank you, told you we meet deadlines even with additions. Now get ready to be stopped everywhere you go and a billion question from people everywhere. I might not be there when you pick up. I am waiting on Gt350R and Maserati to be dropped off. I saw it with base coat on. Just get ready to drool. Pictures does it no justice. They will go over everything with you and I will see you in 2 weeks for follow up check up. Any questions you can always ask, I will still be here to help anyone that needs info so no one misguided them.I can't believe I can finally pick up the car tonight. I'm so excited that I couldn't sleep. You guys did a wonderful job! You treated my car as it was your own and didn't skip any of the details or lose focus. You guys are my brothers for life!
Mirror caps are SatinJust out of curiosity, what parts did you all not matte? I assume the obvious things (lights, windows, Toyota and Supra logos), but what about the A-pillar, side mirrors, etc.? (From the pics, it looks like the red mirror caps themselves are matteād, but the black side mirror arms, A-pillar and top of the car are glossy black).
