For me was an orange Dodge Challenger. I saw him a mile away in my rear view mirror weaving through traffic on the highway just to catch up with me to look at the car. Gave me a thumbs up and drove off.

So I got my Supra 6 days ago. I had an 86, which I traded in. So, two days before I got the Supra, I was driving home and there is a nice 2-lane 90-degree right turn on the way, and I spy through the rear mirror a bimmer (M2C) approaching very fast and he smokes me around the turn and out of it. No biggie.

Here’s where it gets funny: my daughter is friends of a friend of the M2C guy in Facebook, and she said, “dad, I just saw somebody put up a pic of what looks like you getting toasted on a corner.” I asked to see it, and sure enough it’s me, and the asshat wrote that he “just smoked my first Supra”!

Needless to say, now that I have a Supra and it’s the same color as my 86, I really hope he tries that again.
Wow, that is lame if he can't tell the difference between an 86 and Supra. Must not be a real car guy. The 86 has been around so long that it would be hard *not* to recognize one instantly if you have any remote knowledge of cars.

Sometimes it gets tedious driving a sports car because everyone seems like they are out to prove something. Half the time it's cars (or pickup trucks :dunno:) that don't have a chance but I still have to ignore them and that wears me out. I don't approve of street racing plus I have a wonderful family to go home to, so there's no way I will engage morons like that.

Got a new one, was driving back from getting a PPF and tint from Ontario, California. Some guy in a red Focus ST pulled up next to me, whipped out his phone and filmed me driving 65 mph doing literally nothing for 2 minutes straight. I gave it some nice downshifts at the end to make it worth his while lol.

My buddy has a FD RX7 with a single turbo upgrade and was talking a lot of smack about a Supra vs RX7 showdown when I got mine. He even put $50 on the race to prove his point. Needless to say my wife and I had dinner on him that night. Haha

It ended up running a 12.4 with IAT's around 145f and spinning.

Every day I've driven to my office, at least one person will pull up next to me on the highway with their phone hanging out the window to take pics/video of the Supra.

Every time I've been filling up at a gas station, at least one person will come up and ask about it.

The guys at the local hand car wash all asked if I minded it they took pictures of it, both times I've been there.

I've yet to park it anywhere (aside from my home or office) and not had a few people either approach me to ask about it, or just come out and find people taking pictures of it.

My favorite was the day after I got it, though. A good friend had just bought a new house, so I stopped by to see it and visit he and his family. He's not a car guy, so I wasn't surprised when he didn't even realize it was a *different* black two door as we were wandering around his yard and driveway. I didn't see any reason to bring up my new purchase while we were talking about his house. When I'm leaving, he walks me out to the driveway...where a car is stopped out on the road with someone taking a pic from the passenger seat. Guy sees me, says "is that what I think it is?" and I just say "Yeah, it's the new Supra." My buddy, then, of course, wants to go for a ride in the new car. :D

Well today I had a little drive to East village in New York, and the funniest thing I heard so far was "YO, what kind of toyota is THAT? That's the fanciest looking toyota I ever seen". And then I parked it in front of a bar called East Village Social, and the owner said "Hey man the next drink is free if you're trying to chill here for a bit, I saw what you drive" The owner's comment kind of made me feel uncomfortable because I hate getting special treatment and stuff so I politely declined his offer.

So far the funniest (and kinda sad) thing that has happened after 9 days of ownership:

Last night I’m walking to my car and a guy asks me if it’s OK if he takes a pic of it. Sure, no problem. So he takes a pic on his phone and then immediately motions to some people in a nearby beat-to-heck mini-van who turn out to be his family. They come out—wife carrying an infant and 5 kids under the age of 10—and the guy asks if I’ll take a pic with his phone of him and his family standing by the car.

What do you say at this point except, sure dude?

When I got home and told my wife the story, she said, “The next time that happens, you give them the car.”

LOL well tbh I would've been fine with it as long as they don't touch the car. What I tell everyone is this "Treat other people's car like you treat other people's women, look but don't touch"

This funny thing happened to me last night when I drove home from the PPF shop. I was driving on the middle lane and out of nowhere a decked out Subaru STI drove right upto me on the right lane. He was matching my speed to check out my car. Then a Maserati grande turismo pulled up on my left side doing the same thing. The 3 of us were traveling blocking all the cars behind us. Everytime I sped up or slowed down they would match my speed. Eventually I had enough and put on sports mode and took off. It was funny.

I was at costco filling up gas and an older guy and his son walked up to my car looking at it and started talking to me. He said he helped designed the car and recently retired as a chief design engineer from toyota in California. He said he worked with Tada San on both the 86 and this car, he mentioned that the initial car that they designed with California Design was longer and much wider like a lambo... he mentioned they actually had to shrink the body to mate it to the Z4 chassis

At that point it had just an intake and Map 3 on JB4. He says he's going to turn his boost up for a rematch but now I'm full catless downpipe and will be using MHD Tuning for a reflash. Should be in the 11's no problem next time.
