This guy is simplifying the issue because he apparently doesn't want to approve of the vents. Sure you may have to cut some metal on the underside of the hood, but the point is, you don't have to cut anything on the outside, where you might ruin the bodywork. Also, he ignores the obvious, that Toyota itself might do this for future models or racing models. Better to have those areas already pre-selected and partially ready, for tuners or future models. Yes, it is more than just a matter of removing the covers, but much better than cutting holes in the outer panels.

This was posted on another thread, but here is what the car would look like w/o the fake door vents.

Wow! Thanks. Had no clue. Makes sense. Didn’t figure there was no reason to it that’s why I questioned my confusion!

The more you know.
This goes back decades. I know my old 95 BMW M3 did it. About the oldest car I had that did the same

Has anyone attempted to remove any of the blocked off vents yet? There was/is so much controversy about them I was hoping we could put it to rest. I don't have my Supra yet or I would try it myself.

I looked at this carefully on my friends premium a couple weeks ago and forgot to comment on that when I wrote a review. None of the fake vents are close to functional in their current state, so there is no point removing them unless you want to cut metal/plastic underneath and install ducting. And for that matter, some of them don't lead anywhere useful (for example, the door vents) so even if you cut through the structure it won't be usable.

The fake vents that have the most potential are in the front fascia. I sort of think the fake vents next to the headlights and tail lights could maybe be used too, but they are hard to get to. The fake vents on the hood could become outflow vents (assuming they sit in low pressure relative to an inflow) but you're going to have to hog out the hood stamping support frame to do it and I suspect that will make the hood noodly or allow it to buckle.

I am sure a race shop would have no issues, but then again they hack up the whole car and replace bodywork, so this is not a big deal to them.

Modified right passenger vent, open and functional. Underneath the hood there’s multiple holes with channels leading to vent, no metal cutting. Cut bottom of vent out and plastic dipped for clean look.

BMS intake, & BMS JB4 tune. It needs to get on a dyno!

hey all

Does anyone know how easy it is to remove the hood vents?

The car is being wrapped and want to remove them to get the best cover. Are they easy to remove and do they go back in easy?

Any pictures would be great

Based on the ~9:47 mark in the below video, it looks like they literally just pop in and out...

Somebody needs to pop that dude's vents out to let some steam escape, he is freakin bonkers.
Lmao agreed. His style of creating Supra "content" seems to appeal to those hard at hearing with short attention spans.

Yeah, his videos make me feel uneasy they’re so frenetic. Anyone know how he has so many expensive toys? Good for him, just wondering how a guy like that makes his living.
