When moving the car into or out of park will trigger the Parking brake to engage or disengage. That is the normal noise for the electric parking break. You can change the setting for it in the menus somewhere, but it's a feature when putting the car into park it will automatically set the parking brake.

!!UPDATE!!

Car is currently dropped at the dealership.

I pointed out all the issues and made a list so they have an idea of what to look for.

I noticed something new today on the way there. When pressing then lifting off the brake pedal there is a loud "ting/clink" noise that is made from the pedal each and every time. I am not sure if that is normal? I just noticed it, I don't know if it was happening since day one...but I noted that to the dealer as well.

I will keep everyone posted on what I hear back.

I feel terrible for listing out all these "issues", but I know we are guinea pigs for the first run/gen of these cars, so some stuff is expected. As long as mechanically the car is fine then these rattles, etc...are whatever really.

Thanks,
-V

Another update.

My car is staying overnight. They were not able to replicate any of the issues on my list...

They heard some buzzing/light rattle once, but thats it. They stated the car most likely needs to be driven more to have things settle in. I have heard this excuse before from numerous people, and it's bs.

They want me to come in tomorrow and show them all the issues in person while they are there watching as reference.

The radio/sub vibration is definitely the mat that is causing it. I literally fixed the issue when placing my hand on the mat and stopping it from moving around due to bass. The response I received was it could be Pandora's terrible distortion...

There is a weird tick when I lift off of the brake pedal every time, literally EVERY time, and they don't hear it or say it is normal.

They said the creaking when placing into park/drive is normal due to the emergency brake engaging/disengaging every time, which I find weird. Especially since it happens when putting into reverse/drive and not even park. Something isn't right.

I mean the sounds and issues are all present all the time, it is not a random luck occurrence. Assuming they are just enjoying the joy ride.

Welp, I will have to go in tomorrow and show them, then have it sit again for a day for them to say the same...

Hope others have better luck.

Cheers,
-V

^^^ I have not found this! Where??
Is it even accurate though? There is a distinct mechanical almost winch like sound when you engage the e-brake, I do not get this when putting the car into park at all and it is not a setting that I have changed.

Okay,

!!UPDATE!!

I think the rattle that I hear by the belt area might actually be the door lock rattle. However when I hold the door lock and drive as a test I still hear the rattle/whistling sound. Can anyone confirm that the rattle is happening underneath and it is not actually the lock pin on the outside that is visible? It is right by my ear so that's why I think this could be it.

I figured out the terrible bass rattle from the speaker behind the driver. The cover that goes over the chassis, not sure what the proper name is, I guess the gray carpet/mat. Right under that there is some space that is causing the rattle/vibration when the sub/speaker is bumping. When I place my hand/light pressure on that area with max bass not a single peep and the sound quality becomes basically perfect. I think I need to put some kind of dyno mat or felt under there to fill the space. Not sure I am confident enough to tear it down myself right now.

I have an appointment with the dealership tomorrow to have pretty much everything listed checked out. Really the rattles now are not a deal breaker for me. The big thing is the awful creak when putting car in D/P/R initially. If it is completely normal, then fine, but it just seems like such an ugly sound to be made especially at 300 miles. That and the weird rattle/vibration by the driver dead pedal that occurs when at idle, and and only about 10 minutes into the drive and lasts for about five-ten minutes then doesn't happen again until I drive the car next day. I will update everyone if the dealer finds anything.

Thanks,
-V
For the Bass, I just wedged a piece of cardboard in the gap where the cover meets the carpet. It’s not pretty but it works.

!!UPDATE!!

So picked up the car from dealer for the weekend as the shop foreman is out until Tuesday and apparently he is the only on qualified to work on the Supra. Totally fine with that.

I sat down with the service advisor and the service manager and pointed out the speaker/mat vibration, the creak when putting into D/R/P, and the tin vibration under the center tunnel was noted as well.

The car is brand new and no one really has worked or identified issues at Toyota yet, so I get it. Glad they heard and noted the issues with me though. They will present everything to the foreman next week and I will drop car off again.

One thing I noticed today after a 15 minute drive in sport, with a five minute drive in comfort to let everything cool down before parking and shutting off vehicle. When car is idling in either sport or comfort there is a loud popping every couple seconds from the exhaust (axleback area). Almost like some rock or piece of metal pops/jumps every couple seconds. It’s very weird. I don’t know if it’s normal and others have noticed with the Supra?

I have a video here, but it won’t let me upload it :(. Hope the link works.

Cheers,

-V

Can you snap a pic of the area you are talking about for the subwoofer rattle?

My subs rattle terribly, I plan ceramic coating the car and based on this thread, may try to resolve the rattle...

Thanks in advance.

That sounds like it could be part of the auto start-stop. I seem to remember feeling and hearing pedal click on cars that rely on the brake pedal to engage the start mechanism.

!!UPDATE!!

First off, thank you to everyone who is commenting and sending any advice/input, very much appreciated.

This morning I dropped the car off at the dealership as the shop foreman came back to work yesterday.

They are going to look into all the issues that I mentioned and was able to show the service adviser and manager last week. Hopefully they can figure out what is causing them and fix them permanently, or note that some of them truly are normal things.

I would also like to note, upon dropping off the car this morning the service manager had mentioned that Toyota corporate had called/emailed at least 15-20 times over the past week regarding my Supra being noted with all these issues and concerns for over a week. They seem concerned and want to make sure that nothing major is happening or should be noted to Toyota for them to address or take action on, from what it seemed to me. Point being, I am hoping that Toyota is taking any/all issues regarding the new Supra very seriously, at least the ones that are legit very new, low miles, and completely stock...which is my case, with only 400 miles after owning for just under a month.

I will keep everyone posted.

Thanks,
-V

@KeshyMKV, thanks for posting the issues with the noises you are experiencing with your new Supra. It sucks that you're having to deal with them but voicing your concerns helps others. This morning on the drive to work, I turned off the radio and just listened. I'm fortunate, no unusual noises. Turned on the radio and listened for a bass rattle and again, fortunately no noises. My Supra is quiet but I would not have taken the time to really listen to it had it not been for your post. I hope they get these issues resolved quickly for you so you can truly enjoy your car. Good luck!.

So, I fixed the bass rattle in one of the Supras I had access to buy pulling off the subwoofer cover and separating the solid grill insert from the decorative "spokes" cover. They just clip into each other and can be separated if you just carefully pull them apart. Then I reinstalled the "spokes" decorative cover and the rattle was gone. This isn't a permanent solution as now the sub is exposed to garbage getting inside, but it does at least isolate the issue to the speaker grille. There may be some foam/padding/glue that one can use to fix this but I haven't gotten a chance to properly try and fix one yet.
