Looking for info on the pure turbo. How does it spool compared to stock.
Looks like it makes less torque than the stock turbo which isn't necessarily a bad thing for the drivetrain.
-Stock 450 Whp makes over 500 tq.
-Pure 500whp seems to make under 500 tq. Tune could help this.
Just looking for opinions on a street car. Thanks

1. It spools quickly still but is later in the powerband. Adam LZ said around 4000 if I'm not mistaken

2. The full tuning potential has yet to be unlocked, so I am pretty sure it could make torque but they can't up the boost anymore. The stock turbo spools very quickly which makes a ton of midrange torque but little on the top end.

3. I am sure it would be perfect for a street car. Many friends of mine run pure turbos in their 335's and they're all fine.

The stock turbo max torque hits pretty hard below 3k and I was comparing their dyno graph to mine and the Pure shows max torque like 1000rpm later. On a tuned stock turbo this makes for a lot of tire spin coming out of turns because of the rapid change in torque. I think moving that line higher up the rpm band would actually make for a pretty nice power band for a street car that may see some spirited driving on a track. I would go ahead and do the Pure upgrade but I'm just debating going with an aftermarket turbo to future proof it. If 650 whp max is good for you I would say go with it since it's extremely easy to install and you don't have to change anything. The tune could also be emailed to you.

Maybe a tiny bit off-topic on the torque question as I haven't driven a new Supra much less one with a Pure turbo, but the reliability and reputation of the company Pure Turbos is basically beyond reproach in the 335i community. They do leave a bit of power on the table with a slightly more conservative wheel setup than other vendors.

We have two cars that will be getting Pure turbo upgrades and we will be tuning them in the near future. We've tuned a few cars on different dynos and the output gives vastly different readings. At this point, identifying the delta and percentage gain is probably more appropriate rather than absolute numbers even though absolute values do make sales. Based on current dyno charts that we've tuned thus far, this car makes pretty good power, but it's still on the conservative side. Probably will look forward to updating as time progresses. :)

Spooling at 4000rpm is a tune issue if its the PS2 upgrade. We have ours spooling near stock when we actually want torque that low.

Saw some people asking about 93oct pump numbers on the Pure Turbo upgrade.

Ran ours dry tossed in a couple gallons of 93oct on our bone stock other than Pure Turbo.

458whp on our Mustang dyno. Should equate to 500+whp on the dynojet

Yes. Car is bone stock other than the pure turbo right now. We havent put our parts on the car yet

what's the bump around peak torque?
Boost spike. This was just a quick map swap as well from our MS109 map just to toss up a 93oct pull. Just lowered load target and timing to 93oct levels and ran it. Had a bit too much wgdc at spool from our higher boost map for ms109. One or two revs, that little boost anomaly would be gone that you see there.

Just following up here on any recent tunes with the PS2 upgrade. Any idea if BM3 will put out OTS maps for the PS2 upgrade? Its really hard to beat the ease of install and oem like driving characteristics if the tune can get torque back down lower like Twisted Said above.

I'm supposed to get Pure's new Stage 2 turbo next week - with slightly larger wheel than what they've been selling thus far - supposedly same spool time, just better flow, and more power at same boost. I'll have it dyno tuned with a downpipe and 91 octane, no meth. They said 1-2 weeks a couple weeks back, so hoping it comes soon.
