Holy sh*t that's a lot of new cars.
The Jag was a Lease and I actually parted with her for the Supra and had such confidence in her I didn’t even drive her before trading in my Jag. And yeah I thought I am crazy for letting my Jag go since was the R with 550 HP but nope love the Supra.

That article was just... dumb. The author tries really hard to make it a 'hot take' but disregards many many reasons why someone wouldn't buy a new car from bring a trailer and the reasons why someone would choose one car over another aside from performance per dollar.

I actually blocked that domain from showing in my Google Assistant feed after reading the article. It was poorly written and clearly biased. Glad I wasn't the only one that was put off from it lol

I did come across that article also. Just a flashy title and someone’s opinion. Haters gonna hate lol.

Yeah, there was just so much wrong with this article...

(i) It says that the first Supra Launch Edition placed for auction didn't even sell. That's obviously not true. The first launch edition was #1 and it sold for $2.1 million. Even if the criteria were changed to "the first Launch edition after #1 placed for auction," what does "placed for auction" even mean? Is Ebay not an auction process? Plenty of Supras were selling on Ebay for way over stick when they first came out. It's been almost 2 months since their release and a lot more information is out about them now (we even have a dedicated thread here of where to get them at MSRP) so you'd have to be dumb enough not to Google "2020 Supra buy at MSRP" or something along those lines to pay over sticker for one at this point.

(ii) The title is clickbaity and misleading - the car would've sold for $56,700 (the final bid price) but it didn't meet whatever the jacked up reserve price the seller wanted for it, and so the seller decided not to sell it, not the buyer. It's not clear what the reserve price was.

(iii) The last part about "why would anyone get a Supra when they could get an almost 500 hp Corvette?!" sounds like one of the regulars over on https://www.supraforums.com/ wrote this article (they've definitely had their sights on this auction for a while now and some have been vocally posting about the car on the comments on BaT). Gee, it's not like some people could find the wanna-be Ferrari front/middle end of the C8 or ugly Camaro back part to subjectively be a turn-off? Or a lot of the cool features (e.g., the automatic front lift with location memory, etc.) not going to be in the first production batch of cars, and even when it is finally available, they will only be available at the higher trim levels. And not to mention it being a much heavier car, etc. I could go on and on.

Even if the GR Supra were actually as bad as the author wants it to be, this was just a horrible piece of journalism that took one piece of anecdotal data, left out important details, and presented a biased conclusion.

Well personally I'm fine with these articles, I'm just waiting for pricing to drop from their ridiculously inflated prices locally.

Maybe if it's enough of a "flop" they'll go lower than msrp and I'll even get in a test drive before I buy...
