B48 4 cylinder Supra will come to US?

Would you be interested in a 255hp B48 Supra for $40k-$45k?

Yeah I don’t think a 4 cylinder makes sense. Between a loaded 86 to the base Supra is only like 20K. Apart so the $40K 4 cylinder will probably take away sales from both. Then again the MK4 Supra did have a base and Turbo version so why not the MK5.
Yeah man what is it 20k $?I keep finding them across the street

And if there's an MR2 coming, AND an updated 86, with the more powerful 2.4 liter Subaru engine, come to think of it, maybe the 86 will be renamed as Celica :hmm:

According to wiki the higher output for the B48 is either 255hp or 302hp.

I was simply given a cryptic range.....my guess is 302hp version because of the facts. If new 2021 6T engine has 380+hp then 300hp 4T works well for stat sheet and price point (and new version of 86 coming sometime in next 2 years with more hp and base price when released creeping up close to $30k base)

New version of 86 was also revealed at dealer meeting, exterior shown and 2.4l engine confirmed but little else.

Hard to tell, looks similar profile to current but front end cleaned up and much softer and simple lines on front end than current version.

I see it being the 255hp version as well given the SZ-R, and seeing as how the 55k pricing Tada gave me like 3 years ago stuck I'd say the ~$40-45k figure for the 4cyl would also remain true (base>full loaded).

That gives you the perfect price stack (with ~5k+ variance in optioning):

$27k 86
$40k SZR
$50k RZ

The 302hp version only comes transversely mounted and doesn't make any sense to be placed to closely to the B58 in the model lineup. I don't see a scenario it doesn't have the 255hp version like the Z4 30i and A90 SZ-R
Then the 255HP unit probably more likely but to me it hurts that mid 40s price point for only 255 especially when the 6T moves up in HP range next MY.

Here's what I'm curious about: They say it's going up in power which I feel is very likely. However, will they also upgrade the head? Because I can't imagine that would be easy to do as the Euro cars would likely be forced to retain the headifold.

Do you know if it is built on a revised version of the current platform? Or did they switched to the new SGP?

Yup, I think the 4 banger is DOA.
If the Ecoboost Mustang had a Japanese badge, it would be the hottest tuner car on the marker. 310hp 350lb-ft 6mt (or a very capable 10at) coupe for under $30k that is tuneable is the Japanese car people have been wanting for years
