He’s a big Toyota fan but not of the Supra and 86
He does like the 86 he said it drives well but he called a Subaru
He said he doesn’t really like the Supra but it would be the “BMW” he would get

His like or dislike of brands is based on his experience as a mechanic repairing them. Supra hasn’t proven its reliability yet. Yes it has BMW mechanicals but Toyota put its brand on the car. Time will tell but I won’t pass judgement just yet. I bought an extended warranty as a back up plan.

trust me it’s true. All the Toyota techs I know want nothing to do with bmw.
The tech that worked on mine for the camera recall wants to get one himself. So I guess it’s who you talk to

The Scotty Kilmer formula I've grown to understood is that every modern car is trash. If he can't work on it, then it's trash. Modern amenities is useless junk made to inflate the price and make the car more unreliable (I slightly agree with this).

Basically, if I'm watching one of his videos, I need a jar of salt next to me. My guess is most of his audience are ppl stuck in the mid to late 90s. Got to give your audience what they expect. To me, it's more fun to scavenger a video or clip of him liking a modern car, then the hundreds of him labeling them junk.
But there are still some good modern cars like the Miata, Civic Type R, M2, etc. and he stated this out several times
And a modern car will be good if it has a manual transmission

The jist of this thread was Scotty misinforming his audience concerning the Supra recall. It included all of 7 cars which he didn’t mention. He wasn’t being forthcoming with the true scope of the recall. Made it sound like all cars were involved. I do like watching him. He’s goofy and makes me laugh.

Same here.

It's almost sad to see how the MKV has consumed that poster's life. They go out of their way to post on every single MKV post over on supraforums.com (even if it's a relevant post in the relevant sub-forum) and basically tell people to go away. Most recently, for example: https://www.supraforums.com/threads/insurance-costs-for-the-2020-toyota-supra.1118089/.

In light of that, it's hard to take anything this person has to say without a dumpster truck of salt.

Would I have wanted Toyota to have built the Supra 100% in house...hell yes. Could they have ...yes.
Honda has the NSX as their halo car and look at how it’s done in the market. No so good! Saw one on the road yesterday which is like seeing a unicorn. Toyota brought the name Supra back without bleeding cash in the process. Right or wrong the car is here and I’m enjoying the experience. Is it the 2JZ no!!

You don’t have to like or care what I have to say. But I am the one who will be working on these cars when they are towed in.
You’re right about BMW not being reliable. Took a chance with Toyota involved. Bought the warranty just in case

You’re obviously allowed to voice your opinions, but this isn’t a safe space like supraforums.com and people here will push back when you make broad statements like “Toyota techs hate the car”. I previously worked for Toyota (in the Powertrain division when the North American arm was still TEMA) and know a lot of people both there as well as at various dealerships, and most of my friends there are generally excited about the car. Some of my tech friends have expressed that it will be a bit more challenging to work on the GR Supra than other cars, but they still generally like the car (and at least haven’t been putting down others for their decision to purchase it or gatekeeping the “Supra” name). Even if you hate the car, I hope that you’re at least able to put that aside if a customer brings one in for whatever reason and treat them respectfully.
