A recall? Or a service campaign where they can just flash it?So I just found out from my dealership, there should be a recall for this very soon as I was scheduled to pick up the car this afternoon and now they've informed me there's a Stop Sale in Canada for this issue.
I'm super flustered right now as I was highly anticipating to driving it home today
Maybe just a campaign, they won't know until tomorrow or the day after. I'll keep you guys updated thoughA recall? Or a service campaign where they can just flash it?
yeah thatās bs. When I went to pick my car up last week they stopped me before leaving and said there was an update that they needed to do, took them maybe 15minsI just called my local dealer and after a 5 minute hold they said I had to leave the car there a day or two. Their reasoning the update is a long process. I donāt believe it so passing on the update till they get their shit together.
Yeah that's BS. I dropped mine off yesterday and it took them 40 mins.I just called my local dealer and after a 5 minute hold they said I had to leave the car there a day or two. Their reasoning the update is a long process. I donāt believe it so passing on the update till they get their shit together.
This is from another person and I want him to get full credit for solving this ( Kevin )What code share the beans...please
DIM_VARIANT? Old?
Yeah, I have it for my JCW, never thought I could use it for a Toyota You can do other things as well...have fun!Thx my friend I have that obd adapter, and bimmer code for my wife x3
This is great info. I will find someone with above access and re-program. I guess the big question is -- DID YOU SEE IMPROVED BRIGHTNESS on the screen after doing this and turning all the way up? IE, can you read the clock icon, which is nearly impossible to read during the day? Thanks again for the research! This is from another person and I want him to get full credit for solving this ( Kevin )
Here is how to correct the brightness issue of the iDrive screen during the day. 1- Purchase OBDii Adapter (i used OBDLink MX+) 2- Purchase FULL version of bimmercode app 3- start bimmercode app and connect and select BMW for car 4- select BMW Z4 (G29) 5- select Headunit 6- select Expert Mode at top 7- select 3005 DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG 8- scroll WAY down and select DIM_VARIANT 9- change setting from NEW to OLD 10- click OK. 11- Then backup on screens to the HEADUnit ECU screen. 12- select CODE at top right. Accept risk and let it do its thing. It will wipe out the 8 hot keys so you will need to remember what you set them to. This will enable the Brightness control to be used during Daytime. It will now say Brightness versus Brightness during Nighttime. If the dealer ever does a ECU flash you will have to redo this
This is great to hear! Iāve just bought the OBD plug and I should have it in a couple days. I canāt wait to fix this and disable start/stop. Thanks for passing the info along! Not only did it work...I had to tone it down some as it is too bright!
