Place Order to Dealership

Quick question: are dealers allowing custom orders yet? The one I stopped by in Ohio told me that Toyota does not yet take orders on the Supras.

From what I understand, Toyota doesn’t really do orders for any cars. Most people just pick what’s on the lot.

For this car, I don’t think they are. Also, there’s literally like 3 options for it.

The idea I got from my dealer was that the dealers have their normal allocation, mostly the LEs and then a couple premiums. From there, the dealers can ask for more, but I think they need to have a "buyer" lined up for it. They had to enter my address and stuff into the order form. Then you can specify preferences (top 2 colors, trim level, and driver assist) and then I think Toyota North America will send more cars to the dealer based on that.

The main reason I ask was because the color that I want is the Phantom, which is pretty rare. The chances that I will find one with all the options, including the carbon fiber mirror caps and protective film, that is not already sold and it's priced at MSRP or below, seem slim to none.

I asked my dealer about the phantom matte as well. I was going for either that or yellow. I actually saw the order form they use and phantom wasn't even listed. I forget who it was, but another user on the forum was able to confirm that no VINs were for phantom at launch, so they aren't available in the US yet. Additionally I don't know how many they are making to be honest. My dealer said Toyota was concerned about getting too many paint warranty claims due to matte being tough to correct. The dealer had yellow, my other choice, so I claimed that one.

In regards to the carbon fiber mirror caps, those are dealer installed I believe, so you shouldn't have to worry about that from the factory. For the PPF, I'd get that done by a reputable 3rd party installer.

I just stopped by the dealer, and told me whey have an allocation for a premium in Phantom. The MSRP they quoted me did not include the extra cost for this paint. I was a bit confused if they don’t know it’s a $1.5K option or Toyota is not charging for it anymore. I’ve decided to reserve that car and see how it goes.

I would probably double check with them that it's not turbulence gray, and try and get the spec sheet from them to confirm

The salesman confirmed the paint code to be 0D08. Is that the Phantom color?

Definitely. Phantom Matte Gray = Toyota 0D08. There is no BMW equivalent at this time.
