Two things:

Launch control is locked out until the car has a certain number of miles. I can’t recall how many but if your car is very new that may be an issue.

Car and Driver achieved their 3.8 sec 0-60 without launch control per their review.

Car is new, but the LC program definitely isn't locked out, it was working from the day I got the car though I didn't use it. I just tested the process to engage it.

I didn't go to the strip though until it til after I had done 1000kms.

The LC worked at the strip but after 3 runs it was malfunctioning.

Interesting point that they got better times without LC though! I wish I had tried that.

Maybe try the method C&D describes?

Pretty sure I heard launch control requires 6 or so miles of driving from cold to be able to use it, and around the same after each use to allow the drivetrain to cool back down. Might be the cause of some of the issues?

Have you looked in the user manual? At least on BMWs with LC, there is a pretty good writeup on how it works and when it does/doesn't work. There are some caveats and limitations.

You can't do back to back runs with LC -- I don't recall exact specifics, bu per the manual there is either a time or mileage requirement before you can re-engage it.

Theres no certain mileage to be surpassed to use launch control or its unlocked.

However there are indeed other limits that are there. Engine temps, duration, range after start and etc.

There was 30-40 minutes or so between each run due to lots of cars breaking down at the track. Over 3hr I only got 4 runs.
