No such thing as a 2019 Supra. In the U.S. they're sold as a 2020 model year. And as far as I know, they won't be sold till the end of July.

That's insane. One of the few road rules I agree with in Australia. Can be pulled over and a quick 500 fine for no seat belt
In Virginia, seatbelts are a secondary offense. That means they canā€™t pull you over for it - you can only receive a citation if you have been pulled over for another reason. Cell phone usage is also a secondary offense in Virginia.

In the US, these laws are different from state to state.

Anyone else concerned what's causing these crashes?
Is it driver error?
This is wild speculation, but if youā€™re not used to the lane assist safety feature, it can really be quite dangerous if left on. I could see someone picking up this car and then trying to race down a street, zipping in and out of the surrounding cars, and then getting caught off guard when they try to switch lanes without putting on their turning signal and then over-correcting and flying into a tree or something as a result. Or it could just be dumb people who have no idea how to properly drive this car and theyā€™re simply crashing for idiotic reasons. Thereā€™s been some talk about the steering shaft issue (primarily raised by EAG in one of their videos), but I donā€™t think that any of these alleged problems have been substantiated yet.

@supradupra - Car tried to lane keep assist me into the divider because of construction and old/bad/re-sprayed highway lane markings. Was my first or second day driving around in it. This feature is likely to get turned off in my car.

This occurs on other drive assist cars from Toyota, e.g. our RAV4. This one one of the first things I turned off on my Supra but I never felt that it was strong enough to force me into anything.

My assumption with the crashes is just loss of control from too much power & not enough experience.

Donā€™t know. I obviously didnā€™t crash (so it wasnā€™t strong enough to force me into the wall) but it did take my by surprise as it was my first encounter with the feature. I think sometimes that could be enough to mess up someoneā€™s day. :dunno:

I encountered another owner at a cars and cigars a couple of days after I took delivery. He advised me turn it off - was quite the evangelist about it. Couldnā€™t be happier without the steering tug.
