I guess I'll be the lazy person that asks: Will 7 quarts overfill it?
Dont know. Oil capacity is clearly stated as 6.9 quarts. They didnt state 7 quarts but did state overfilling will damage. Is it worth it at the very least getting back under the car to let some oil out? That being said i doubt a dealership will accurately measure anything and that would be the ultimate lazy.

I haven't heard lifter ticks after changing the oil on a B58, but then again I don't let it drain for hours, so maybe that had something to do with it.

The reset instructions worked. Here is more detail. With the engine off and foot off the brake, rapidly push the start button 3x. The car will report it is in diagnostic mode on the dash and the amber engine warning light will illuminate. Hold down the odo reset button and then the car will show you a number of services you can reset starting with oil but allowing you to cycle through other services. When on oil, hold the odo reset button and it will ask you if you want to reset. Hold again, and the reset will initiate. When finished, press the start button one more time and the car will switch out of diagnostic mode.

Oil change 2 completed (the first was to get the break-in oil out). Amazing it has already been a year. Slight edit to the notes, you cant just go into diagnostic mode (by holding down the odometer button) and reset the service indicator. First you need to put the car in diagnostic mode. To do this without starting the car (foot off the brake) press the start button 3x quickly. The car will indicate it is in diagnostic mode. Now if you hold down the odometer button it will bring up a screen to reset oil service.

Parts guy at my local Toyota dealership insists the car only needs 5.5L (6.8 quarts).....

Had to argue with him that it's 6.5L (6.9 quarts).

Dealerships know little to nothing. That said, they could have easily just looked it up in the service manual?
