Is anyone else worried about the used market on the MKV?

The hype around them along with the fact that it seems a lot of people are ripping on these cars right out of the lot, not to mention all the "DO IT FOR THE GRAM!!!" mods and tunes that are going around. It just seems like it'll be hard to find one that's in good condition and wasn't abused or fitted with gaudy body kits.
These owners are actually doing you a favor by ripping on it right off the lot. I would be more concerned when the hype slows down and a vast number of brand new MKV's are sitting on the lots.

What are your thoughts on the PPF so far? I've been considering it and will more than likely have to travel to get it done well. How is the clarity on the Suntek material? Also were they able to wrap edges or do you see lines?
Not the person you asked but I love having PPF. It protects the car really well. The Suntek film is great as well as the Xpel. I have a mix of both on my car. All of my edges are wrapped and the only like I can see is one on the front bumper when I get real close up to it. Honestly I only see it cause I know it’s there.

I like the Suntek. The edges were wrapped on the hood. I only see the edges because I know they are there. I had the front end, rocker panels and roof done. First vehicle I ever had wrapped so I have nothing to compare it to. It was hard to find someone to do it because it was so new. I think he did a decent job. Wasn't the best run place...time will tell.

Not really worried about it, cars are toys not investments, mine will remain stock for the first 4000 miles or so, just to be sure I don't have a lemon, and then I will mod the shit out of it, this car is not fast enough for me from the factory.
If at anytime the platform shows reliability problems, I will dump it on the used market and move on....I hope not, but I am more of a car guy than a toyota fan at this stage of my life....

As someone that is planning on purchasing the car second hand, I don't foresee the used market for the MKV any different from other sport cars.
[...] Modded cars won't be valued as high, and that's where I'll be looking. Better deals for me. Makes more sense as I plan on doing my own things, but not to a new car.
Same here

Do you mind sharing what it cost you?

Awkward question because most of us are owners of the MKV. If you mean are we worried about resell, I don't think these will plummet especially with people modding them; fully demonstrating how capable the car is. For somebody in the market to buy a used one, it's the same story for any sports car. As long as the car is well documented and maintained, just do your normal PPI and go from there.

sounds horrible. i was gunho for this car but all these stories like moisture in headlights and dealers using a shotgun approach to ordering parts for a repair are turning me off. If i'm going to blow this type of money on a car, i want it solid.

I am not worried one bit about resell or devaluation simply because this is such a great machine. Great cars define generations and this Supra is one of them. I have previously owned the lancer evolution (2 evo 9’s) and the s2000 (Club Racer). This car blows them out the water as far as driving experience. I thoroughly researched each car simply for the driving experience and performance. I purchased these cars with the intent of enjoying them and fortunately turned a profit after enjoying them for years. So far I haven’t missed, but similarly don’t care because it really comes down to the simple enjoyment of the car. Now Supra owners! lets enjoy these badass cars!!! ;)

I do miss the steering from my Evo X a little - I don't miss the turning circle tho...

I’m not worried as dealers currently have used ones for twice what I paid for mine. :D

I'm not worried. I'm in the UK so it may be different but there are very few being made available by Toyota so it'll always be rare. They are good cars that can be made great with a few basic mods.
Most will be babied too, the toughest thing thrown at them being carrying golf bats to the local club.

Having said all that, I don't intend to sell.

Yes, my reason though is because a lot of people here will be using the wrong oils in their engines. For example just regular Mobil 1 0w20 for Toyota’s vs the BMW specific LL-14 FE+ spec or the LL-01 spec oils

Slug problems and failures might happen in the longer term....

I'd be more worried about the dealers doing this than 'enthusiasts'
