Did anybody confirm that the 12 volt outlet plug inside the car is switched, so it would not work to attach the battery maintainer to this outlet?
12v inside the car is always powered.

I agree with everyone else, use the posts under the hood.

Nobody should worry that the maintainer/tender is connected to the posts under the hood and not directly connected to the battery. If connecting to the battery was needed to get clean power, BMW wouldn’t be instructing us to connect to the posts under the hood...

Thanks - My only issue with connecting to the posts under the hood was trying to connect the maintainer without opening the hood on a frequent basis.

I just ordered my cable and haven’t looked at it to closely yet. Have you tried running it through the lower part of the bumper?

Need some help as a Canadian owner of one of these beautiful machines... i was looking at a battery maintainer for winter storage and this one caught my eye https://www.costco.ca/power-tender-4-a-lead-acid-and-lithium-charger.product.100516341.html .. Would this suffice ? I found this one as well https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00068XCQU/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_4?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&psc=1 and wasnt sure which one to go for. Also the general consensus is attaching the maintainer to the contact points under the hood and not directly to the trunk? thanks in advance.

yessir. Now it hasnt been extremely long but i can confirm, having left the car for nearly two weeks hooked up that it was able to start and had no negative consequences hooking it up as referenced in this post. I leave the harness screwed in and just plug in the quick disconnect to charge.

Thank you for the reply, is there a torque requirement for the grounding bolt that I would put the loop harness into? I am leaning towards just using alligator clips and positioning them well for when I close the hood. Sorry for all the questions!

i do believe its 14 ft-lbs
I dont like the clips because i didnt want to risk one falling off when i close the hood and shorting something. Also with the quick disconnect you dont have to worry about what order to clip the red and black clips in you simply plug it in

everything is included with the charger, maybe you will feel differently after you see it all in person

can someone confirm if 14 ft lbs is the correct torque spec for the ground bolt ?
Thanks
