That's sweet you were the first! How could you not share details?!?!
Lol, sorry man. I don't post often.

I'm a NASA regular, so it was pretty much just another race weekend except Toyota flipped the bill and renewed my membership.

If you haven't ran this car on the track before make sure you either long press the TCS button and turn everything off, or dont get too close to the person in front of you. If I'm in a new car, in cold conditions, or running different tires, I typically like to have some level of stability control on for the first few laps, but on my second lap I was lining up a pass on a some slows and a Porsche that was behind me was planning to come along, but when I got close to the car in front the auto-braking came on and my car auto-brake checked the car that was going to come along with me down the front straight. The only way could figure out how to disable that was to turn everything off.

Hey Sorry! I was exhausted from this weekend and work has me running around.

Unfortunately I didn't take a lot of pics because I was socializing a lot. Everybody was amazed to see the Supra there so be ready to chat away.

For anybody's first time at a NASA event I will say it's pretty confusing. I got there at 6:50ish am and was driving around to find the registration for my area. Angry, the registration area in the Jersey track is in that event garage but the entrance is at the timing tower side (side with the long straight away)

.

In there they will sell you the decal number to put on your car. Next, you find a spot on the grass and empty your car of EVERYTHING (floormats, expass etc), then you drive back to the Event garage for the tech to check your car and your helmet (I had to run back to grab my helmet). After that, about 30 minutes until they announce where HPDE meeting will be at on the loudspeaker or ask a tech. From there I had class which is right in that event garage as well next to the registration.

Now for the part everybody cares about, How was the event? TAKE ADVANTAGE! I HAD AN ABSOLUTE BLAST! The Supra is a BEAST. It was a menace to a lot of cars, and I felt nothing but confidence in it. Super easy to control around a track and could attack any corner. This event made me want to buy another Supra to solely track it (i'm poor, but if i had the funds i would so do it). I had 4 20 minutes track time slots where you are with an instructor who teaches the track and situations. You also have classes where they go over situations and rules. You are out there with about 15 cars, and I felt perfectly comfortable. If you don't feel comfortable I suggest you give everybody the pass signal/line up last on the grid. This allows you to go at your pace without feeling somebody breathing down your neck. I had an NSX (ended up being the teacher) who was bullying me, but it was fun. They stacked 2 HPDE1 track time slots towards the end of the day (4:30-5:20), but i didn't even go to my last "heat" because I was content and had a long drive home. They also had a "hyperdrive" event where your friend, etc. can drive your car on the track but no passing. It was $50 and let my gf whip it around. Finally, there is a gas station to fill up your car. I needed to get gas for my trip back home.

For any 1st timers:

If the track is far, def book a hotel close by
Pack lightly so you don't have a lot of stuff to take out of the car
If you are lost ask the techs (Bright neon shirts in my case) for help
Helmet rental is $25 (My helmets were expired)

The only pain was the initial "where the hell do I go, wtf do I do." After that, it was smooth sailing.

EVERYBODY DO IT! TOTALLY WORTH IT!

I received an email from Toyota today about this. I hope to do an event in the Spring. I'm glad to hear it was well worth it. I'm excited to get this car out on the track!

I got that same email yesterday. Three months, almost to the day, after I picked the car up. Oh well, track season in the northeast is over anyway. I got one day in at Palmer, and will likely do a few more there next season, but I'm definitely going to take advantage of the free NASA day to drive NJMP. It's been a few years since I rode there, and I bet it's an awesome track in a car.

I got it yesterday as well. However, the postman really squished all mails in there, so it was curled up and damaged. Nonetheless nothing special inside to be honest. still nice to have.. sticker was a nice touch.
