I am more surprised that the Civic Type R was a second faster than the Supra. I knew the Civic was a great car, but I was not expecting that.

Still glad to see that he liked being in the Supra, car and driver connection is more important to me than lap times.

This test doesn't make sense to me. Both the Mustang and the Supra should have been way faster. It's odd, because I know in other tests the Supra handled amazingly and ran really good times and the Mustang is also very capable as well.

It's even weirder that they were both slower than the M2 which is usually the slowest of the three.

I don't think these two are professional drivers by any means

I was looking at a GT Premium Mustang myself, but I can't get over the new front end. Chevy botches the rear end of the camaro and Ford is like hold my beer.
.
theres a solution to that, just add a gulf stripe

The one guy Thomas is a real good driver and an instructor, and he does all the timed laps. I would expect he could extract the best from each car as long as he does enough laps to dial in properly. I don't think they make any effort to correct for weather, tire variability, or have an understanding of uncertainty or repeatability, so I wouldn't put too much stock into their long list of times for the various cars. I would have liked to see the M2C and Civic-R tested on the same day and know what condition all the tires were in to make a conclusive comparison of the four cars. Don't know if there would still be 2 seconds difference or not. Also don't know much about their track, but if there are enough high speed legs then it would favor the M2C over the Supra since the S55 has more guts on the top end.

Test is flawed. Here is my bone stock Supra doing multiple laps with a Shelby 350 driven by an instructor. He said afterward he couldn’t shake that new Supra. Lol. My buddy was behind him in the lunch line.

It's time for another DRAG RACE – this time pitting the Ford Mustang GT against a Litchfield-tuned Toyota Supra! The Supra has 440hp and a turbocharged 3.0-litre engine, but can it beat the Mustang being driven by Car Throttle's Alex Kersten, which produces 450hp thanks to its 5.0-litre V8! Let's find out...

My friend just bought a 2019 GT350R over the weekend. I drove it back from us grabbing lunch today, it's a blast. I prefer my Supra, but this thing was pretty easy to get into and drive quickly(for public roads). I'm sure he and I will swap cars for a weekend sometime, and then I can get a better sense of the differences in the real world.
Any particular reason why you prefer the Supra? Is it the better driving car?

I am looking to upgrade my BRZ to either the Supra or GT350. Not sure which direction to go to since I can't get a test drive in the Supra yet.

The Supra is just a nicer car. Quiter, more comfortable, better interior amenities and controls, all the things you'd expect from a BMW collaboration. It does all that while still being just as capable. I'd be willing to bet that the wider, stickier tires on the GT350 caused most of my perceived difference in grip.

Also...it's just a more unique looking car. This article nailed it:

"It turns out it's easy to make a Shelby GT350 invisible. Just park it next to a 2020 Toyota Supra. Onlookers walk right past the Shelby like it's a beige Camry and ask if they can take a picture of the Toyota."

This has happened to my friend and I, more than once, including while we were filling up near the track.

Thanks for the insight. Your point about visibility is well taken. To any normal person, the GT350 is just another mustang. I'm looking forward to the test drive before going ahead with the Supra - which is what I'm leaning towards so far. Need to see how that auto is for myself haha.

I'd be blown away if you didn't enjoy that 8 speed transmission. I've always preached manual trans as the way to go...then I drove a modern, fast shifting auto. Gone are the days of 'slush boxes,' this thing shifts faster than I can *decide* to shift, let alone perform the action.

What really sold me on it was the downshifting. In sport mode, it's aggressive downshifts seem telepathic.
