hello everyone,

yesterday and the day before, I was competing in a time attack race (circuit) the track was really nice and the car was amazing ! but at the end of the day I faced a problem, last 15 mins top 5 of each class they compete each others. in qualifying I was 1st all day, shoot out ( top 5 ) I went for my 1st hot lap and my time was 2:32.673 then an alarm showed up ! reduce engine power ! I couldn't do another flying lap ! I lost the 1st position by 0.014 !. my qualifying time 2:32.33 !

anyone is familiar of this alarm ?
I will upload the GoPro vid soon.

Is it still present today after the car has cooled down?

This condition has multiple triggers onBMW engines. Some are practically nothing and others are not. It can be sensors, turbo waste gate, VANOS solenoid, timing, etc.

You likely need an ODB diagnostic to know more.

I remember someone else in the Middle East having some heat issues

I donā€™t know if oil / engine temp is a flag for this but I recall someone from Qatar having concerns as he finished his race / track session at 140+ deg oil temp. Sounds like you need to make friends with someone with an ODB tool if you donā€™t have one handy.

Really would have needed to check codes before turning the car off. It was limp mode of some sort. Could have been triggered by fueling issues, temps, over or underboost, cooling, and the list goes on.

Limp modes require the ignition to be cycled off and back on for the flag to reset.

I don't have Supra experience with this, but on a hot day with an R8 V10 on track with A/C on, I got reduce power error after 3rd lap. Wouldn't let me rev above 5000 rpm or something. Turned off A/C, cooled down and continued. Not what you want out of a car made for track, but wth...

i keep seeing you post about this. how did you go about verifying its starvation and not just the tune? Have you monitored LPFP pressure while something happened?

ok, thanks. i'll be doing some testing over the winter of the LPFP to see where exactly its limits are. and see if there is a legitimate starvation issue.

its oil temp related, in the mapping there is a limitter when exceeding 115Ā°C oil temp the power will be reduced, most BMW engine have this feature. time to upgrade the oil to better quality and thickness over the stock 0W20 water.

I don't think the season is hot weather, because it was cold weather and the car was parked for more than an hour before I went for the shoot out race, and I did only one flying lap and the 2nd lap the alarm shows up !

because when I refuel it and went back home everything looks normal !

today I am going to the track, I hope it wont shows again!
