You’d think that a group of grown-ups with one of the most respected cars would be a classy bunch but they make NASIOC look good lol.

So are saying if I’m bored I should check it out?
Man the way they talk about the MKV Supra is like their wife cheated on them and they're salty about it. Highly recommend it if you want a good laugh. They're throwing numbers everywhere with all the MK Supra's production, HP, price, and percentage of Toyota parts.

Just went in there and had to pull back because I felt my blood start to boil lol. So much stupidity and hate for no reason at all. I guess I’ll only ever hang out with MKV people and no other Supra owners

I only saw the hate on the fake vents as a valid remark but otherwise the other hate comments made no sense to me.
Agreed. I actually sat down and tried to make sense out of the stuff they were saying but I just couldn’t. They think MKV owners don’t show up there because nobody’s buying them but I see other reasons lol

Wow...the hate over there is real lol. Unpopular opinion but the BMW part doesn't bother me one bit especially since they make premium cars, ultimately if the partnership makes the car nicer and cheaper that only benefits me. I'm way more interested in how good the car is rather than who helped make it. It's not like we did a joint venture with 1990's Kia haha. The mkiv will always be a legend and I love it but on the whole many of the owners are just arrogant and think they're better than everyone else, not all of them of course.

Many of them just wanted Toyota to reproduce a 25 year old mkiv just so they can not buy it like they didn't last time...which is what necessitated the joint venture in the first place. Even that car wasn't 100% Toyota (getrag gearbox, Yamaha co-deveolped heads, etc.) I know this has been touched on but doing it alone would have cost way more and at that point we're looking at NSX or GTR price range, and the world doesn't need more six figure price tag cars, we need more that are in the corvette range.

The data shows that the new car is lighter, stiffer, better balanced, quicker, shifts faster, safer, has more technology, B58 is very tunable, and I could go on.

Them flaming the car for being co-developed is all they can cling to since the numbers prove the new car is awesome, end rant lol

I had some friends over for dinner last night and made a pot of chili. Now I have to admit that I used some Del Monte tomatoes, Bush's beans, and I didn't slaughter a cow to get the beef but also bought that at the grocery. I used high quality ingredients and had a good recipe and it turned out pretty good.
People still complimented me on my pot of chili because I was the one who put it all together and served it up. They didn't call it Del Monte chili or Bush's chili.
Most of people that have driven the MKV Supra think it's a pretty good end product. Time to get over where the individual parts come from and focus on the car as a whole IMO.

I agree completely, they're mad on the specs of the car because the GTR and NSX is a huge improvement in hp from their last gen but don't count the msrp factor. I would say the point is already proven considering the sales on the NSX is poor. Also you still need to drop a lot in a GTR to make it beat the hyper cars. I've come to realize that there's many views on the new MK5 personally if we're talking stock. The MK5 is hands down 100% better looking and it's always been my dream to own a MK4 one day. MK4 owners are saying it looks nothing like a MK4 but if we look at all the supras they do not look similar to each other besides some components. The MK4 compared to MK5 looks fairly similar to each other compared to the others. I'm pretty sure many will grow to like the new Supra just like how the R35 got crap for looking like a brick of turd until the facelifts + steroids HP happened.

Supraforums is the definition of toxic. I have no idea if it is the sense of entitlement, but the arrogance is real! I hated posting their when I had mine. Made me feel unwelcomed and dumb. This place is night and day and you guys have been awesome!

I'd say the quarter panels remind me a LOT of the MK4 from behind and overhead view. I remember when the GTR got the "but its an automatic" nonsense. Now you don't even hear a PEEP about that.

I have never understood the attitude/arrogance rejecting the BMW involvement. BMW makes some very competent sports cars, and the Supra improved on that in several ways. It slots in the hole between BMW M-sport models and true M cars that BMW doesn't serve. It dropped the price point by $10-15K compared what you'd pay for a comparable BMW. It made improvements to suspension/steering tuning. It introduced new styling and design themes. And it brings the car to a wider customer base with a wider dealer support network. All good things.

I had an 86 and have owned Subarus/BMWs, so I was already open to the idea of a collaborative car. Other than the 86, let's face it, Toyota has not served car enthusiasts well at all in the last 20 years. And I mean no disrespect to Toyota owners when I say this, but they have been a pretty boring brand for a long time, almost falling into a GM pattern of blandness. So whether or not you like it, the collaborative BMW/Toyota Supra MK5 is a big improvement for Toyota and a big win for its customers. Anybody who is so arrogant to reject the BMW involvement really doesn't have much to stand on, because Toyota abandoned this segment and its customers decades ago. If not for a collaborative effort with BMW or any other brand, we wouldn't have a flagship Toyota sports car. I pretty much view this as MK5 or nothing, and I feel like anyone clinging to the MK4 mentality needs to go live with 90s sports car tech, because that's all they have to stand on.

I decided to go check it out for laughs and geez, people have a lot of anger at a car that, as far as I can tell, none of them have sat in or driven. Comedy indeed lol
