Hi guys,

I have just installed new aftermarket seat on my car. Still waiting for anyone to share how to disable the airbag srs system with aftermarket seats.

By the way seat is mad comfortable and provide more support than stock one.

Thank you

Looks great man! Few questions:
1) Is the seating position lower than the stock seat position?
2) You using your car for 1/4 Mile or roadcoarse? I ask because there is no side bolsters at all and curious if it will keep you in place.

1) you can always adjust the height of the seat from the seat bracket but i dont feel any height difference at all
2) its for weekend drive. on the contrary, i feel more planted on this seat than stock. stock seat base is very flat and i get to move around very easily on the stock seat. when i sat on this seat last night, it really hugs around my back and thigh very nicely and very solid. If you look closely on the pict, the curve on the base seat is quite high

I was legitimately confused by the first pic because the seat looks like it has next to zero padding and very little bolstering, but that second pic helped out a bit.

I think we will have to wait a while to know how. BMW installed so many sensors in the seat to make it as complected as possible to remove. (Occupancy sensor, Driver seat airbag, Driver seat position sensor memory, etc)

Good news is they all can be codded out with BMWs so its the same for our cars.

By the way, does the srs light affect anything like traction or power?

Only thing I believe is affected is airbag deployment.

Looks great. Do you know what the weight savings are vs stock seat? And are you planning on doing the passenger side as well, those seats are $$$.

2) its for weekend drive.
Hey erm, sorry to be a buzzkill and question your choice, but for a weekend drive is it worth disabling a vastly important life saver safety system? Is there a way to still keep it on, but "trick" the system to think you're sitting on it? As I'm questioning, I'll admit I don't actually know what "disable" actually disables...or exactly what the airbag system detects for driver seat..
I believe there is a "crash" sensor around the radiator which communicates with multiple seat airbag sensors to figure out deceleration.
Can you rip out the cabling from OE seat and mount it on the CF seat?

FYI, I had to work on the 86 passenger seat and the system which recognizes if passenger is sitting or not, seat occupancy sensor, is a thin paperlike, strain gauge looking thingy right underneath the cloth layer.

I was trying to take out the yellow airbag cable but it seems more complicated with airbag installed on the oem seat.

I did took out my sti subaru seat and transfer the sensor to aftermarket seat and used resistors to bypass the airbag.

Still waiting for someone to figure this out. Until then my car is gonna be sitting in garage till spring comes.

Yes a lot less weight. The carbon fiber seat is mad light..you can actually just carry it with one hand.

Mahbe oneday i will do the passenger seat too.. but for now i just want to try out on driver side first
