Yesterday, I went to get my engine oil changed around 4500 miles for the first change. While they had the car up in the air, the tech called me back to show me that the trans pan had a leak. Service manager, says it will be covered under warranty and they can order parts, and will be able to knock it out tomorrow. I leave my car with them, as it seems pretty straight forward to change the pan gasket and bolt gaskets. I call them today around 2:30pm as I have not heard from the dealership... "We have some bad news"... looks as if Toyota is interested to see how and why the gasket has failed and is leaking. As of right now the dealership is waiting on word way about their paygrade to see what they are going to have to do with the car because they aren't sure the pan cover is reusable... So either replace gaskets and reseal, or perhaps swap the entire trans... jesus, what a headache... Also I leave for christmas holiday tomorrow and will be gone for 2 weeks...

Exact same thing I am going through right now, took my car to the first service and they discovered an oil leak due to the gasket. told me to leave my car with them till they order the replacement parts from japan which will take a minimum of two weeks to a month.

Thereā€™s another thread on here explaining the leak is coming from a breather on top of the diff. Something about it spitting out when the fluid gets hot

That is for the rear diff... this is for the actual transmission pan...

**UPDATE** I guess Toyota had to add the pan, gaskets & hardware to the parts catalogue as it had not been indentured down from the transmission. Parts are now on order, but no ETA, and no clue where the parts are getting sourced from... patiently waiting.

**UPDATE** Got a call out of the blue today that the car was ready for pick-up! I guess the District Manager made the call to source the Trans Pan kit and fluid from BMW parts, and the got it knocked out. Mind you, I live in a semi-rural area... 2 hours to Richmond/ 1.5 Hours to DC/ 2 hours to Baltimore, so I feel this dealer definitely made stuff happen to get me my car back as quickly as possible... 2 weeks!

Did you get a Supra loaner from them for those 2 weeks?? When I had to take mine in for the screen brightness recall (took 5hrs) they told me that whenever they run into an issue, they are not allowed to touch and work on the car. Apparently they bring in their "Supra" techs and if it's going to take a long time, they'd give you their Supra as a loaner.

Damn, what an inconvenience and the 1st year production problems that I don't like to read about. Glad that they got taken care of but damn 2 weeks is inexcusable.

Perhaps where youā€™re from but def not where Iā€™m from. In SoCal, 2 week downtime is uncalled for.
When @Fast_Freddie mentioned "fast", it's relative to the average time taken to solve any warranty-related problem mentioned/posted in this forum. My LE 244 has been at the dealer since September 5 2019 and it is now a lemon. Toyota FTS still doesn't know to repair it.

In this case, if it wasn't for the action of the Toyota dealership to "outsource" BMW parts, there was a great likelihood that the car would still be at the dealership to this day waiting for an oil pan and parts with unknown ETA. A two-week turn around time at this point is considered fast and kudos to the dealership for taking such a move for the sake of customer satisfaction and walking a thin line with a risk of having the cost of the repair blatantly denied by Toyota and, possibly, facing a penalty of some sort. I would love to know the behind-the-scenes outcome of this fiasco.
