Uh oh. That's not right... We were expecting ~7:40. Sport Auto does a lot of lapping around the Nürburgring and they're legit. There is definitely something wrong on Toyota's end. I hope our insiders can look into this. A Civic Type R with track tires, weight savings, and a roll cage beat this. No Civic of any form should be within 10 seconds of a Supra IMHO.

It is tied with the M2 Competition which is cool but we all know the Supra is an order of magnitude more capable than the M2 Competition. It should blow it out of the water.

Toyota needs to do a lap themselves and set things straight, or we're going to need Tada-san to come clean and be truthful about the Supra's capabilities.

lol. Calm down. Sport Auto laps are usually one shot deals. Not with a whole crew and optimal conditions. I've noticed over the years, they have a delta of 15-20 seconds (17s on avg) off from what the manufacturers can manage. Considering it's tied the M2 comp and out paced the Z4 (with less power than both), I'd say not too bad at all.

p.s. This same Driver with a Civic Type R pulled something like an 8:01.... YMMV

7:40 Sounds entirely feasible on a set of cup2 tyres over the super sports . On standard 1min/lap tracks cup2's are about 1-1.5s faster per lap , so over a 8min lap that's somewhere between 8s-12s. Add a real pro driver in perfect weather conditions would drop a few seconds on top of that imo

Actually I'm very surprised Toyota does not conduct the test so far, after so many marketing events, media and KOL stuff for the great launch of new Supra, they even entered 24 Hours of Nürburgring 2019!

Maybe they keep it for the GRMN version?

Lap is quite ok for Sport Auto, especially in context of all their laps like M2C or TypeR (and Typer R factory time is VERY questionable, noone got even close to that till today), better tires with some factory driver and I think high 7:3x is doable, just as Tada stated. Even on MPSS under 7:50 is doable. Toyota should do it themselfs and publish the time around Geneva or something. Stuff like that (numbers) sells cars today, since "balance" and "fun" cant be measured.
Anyway, I wait for manual or hardcore GRMN the most out of this platform :p

I've searched, but cannot for the life of me find a lap time for a MK4 TT stock. Curious to see how one did compared to the Mk5

There are no factory MKIV lap times. I believe the Blitz Supra @ 7:49 and Simon Hart are the only MKIV's that have clocked a lap times at the Nurburgring. Simon did 7:18 with his 700hp MKIV... with a manual... and with traffic.

Toyota did do testing at Nurburgring.
Unfortunately, there was an incident.
