Update of the project
Turbo has been picked up today

Custom Import Arts - Instagram account said:

First glimps of a bold on turbocharger for the @toyota @Supra #MKV with the #B58 engine.

This is a custom build centerhousing, nothing of the shelve... this will go in beta test phase next week with the support of a custom designed turbo inlet piping.

Its the next stage of our developement with the #mkvsupra platform in #Belgium at @customimportarts

This turbo was designed and build in #Belgium in cooperation with @asd.performance who facilitates turbo manufacturing for these turbos.

This will be our first step in a stage 3 ( turbo + intake ) upgrade kit.

Now I need to find some time to bring the Supra to them

Yesterday evening, I brought the supra to Custom Import Arts
Next week, they will start experimenting with this new turbo and see which results it gives in spool-up, power output,...

And while I was there... seen my R33 GT-R without the engine. She needs a rebuild:

This turbo was designed from scratch and is using a custom designed center ball bearing housing. We then reused the in and outlet housing that was machined for the upgrade turbines.

The challenge was to build an oem intake housing that would fit all oem hardware.

Test fitting is nearing completion and we are waiting on the final production intake tube to get this thing on our @superflowdyno dyno again.

After some delay (due to a corrupt file), the 3D printed piece came finally in today.
If all goes well, the turbo gets installed tomorrow.

Unfortunately received some 'bad news' last week.
It seems that there is fabrication fault in the turbo. Seems not enough clearance on the internals when the turbo is running hot (metal expanding)

They will look into it this week and see how long it takes to fix the fabrication fault.
Well thats the downside of having a complete new designed turbo and not an off-the-shelf one like pure.


Just as info: a really good spool-up and they are no longer getting the high torque peak in the beginning (so would be better for the grip)
Currently 730nm torque over the whole RPM range. But that should be higher... again, faulty fabrications so its just a number for the moment.
Went to 530hp at the engine at 6000RPM.

Hopefully more to come next week (depending how fast it can be fixed)

Been a month since I last updated this thread.

We are still facing some issue with the turbo upgrade. Seems that even after the second attempt (when the new internals where in) something is going wrong. So it will be 'back to the drawing table'. Taking 3-4 weeks maybe before another redesign.


But in the meantime, two other things are on-going

1. I ordered new wheels for the Supra to drive in spring/summer
   
2. We are investigating which Big Brake Kit would suit in the OEM wheels (and hopefully new wheels as well lol)

Some good news in this COVID19 period:

• after 5 weeks of waiting, production is finished of my BC Forged MLE81 wheels and they are ready for shipment towards Belgium

Very excited on how they will look in real life (and off course when they will pass through customs)

True with some minor mods, already great power numbers can be achieved.

Hopefully I have more updates by the end of May... COVID19 is killing the car-industry here in Belgium (performance shops not allowed to be open for already 4-5 weeks, hard to get deliveries,...). Wasting lots of time, so no progress. But on the other hand, there are worse things in life.

Thanks and I received an update on the turbo today.
After a week of testing by the company that made the turbo (ASD Performance), the internals seem to stay within specifications.
They will install the upgraded intake and bring the car back to Custom Import Arts.

Let's hope everything goes as planned from now on, so that I can update everybody here 'soon'

Ordered today the HKS Hipermax Touring kit



I think it is a good trade-off between daily ride and couple times on the track.

Hope installation happens soon. Not the only car there where they are allowed to work on again

They expect that it will still get lower from the moment they start driving with it, springs getting little softer.
If it is not raining this Saturday, Custom Import Arts will take my Supra for a drive and on Monday check the allignment.
