Hmm, is it a failure or a feature ...

Pretty darn stupid if it’s normal. Why make only one side twitch. My drivers side doesn’t move at all. Passenger side glitches for many minutes before stopping. If it were both, I might accept it as normal. But not one... Also, no mention of this “feature” in owner’s manual- I need to go back and read again but I don’t recall this being discussed

The normal behavior should be a single jerk of both wipers and not just one of them jittering once every 15 second over and over again. There's also a beep that happens everytime the wiper jumps that doesn't happen to the BMWs.

This is based on my observation after locking the vehicle.

The E-brake button light, the headlamp control button lights (left driver side near the door) and the hazard button will stay on. You will hear a long whining noise (not loud), then the e-brake button light will start to blink before the passenger wiper starts to twitch (25 times within 5 minutes), then wait for an additional two minutes (approx), then the headlamp control buttons together with the e-brake light button will turn off while the hazard button will still remain lit for another three minutes (approx).

I took it back to the dealership last Saturday so they can check what causes that twitching thing. They even contact the main office to send their special technician for the car (I don't know if this is real or just BS). I got a call from the dealership yesterday and they said that the car is ready for pick up and so I asked them if they find what causes the twitch and they said that they ran several diagnostics and they cant find anything and so I ask the service manager to make sure that everything is in writing and so I went to their to pick it up last night, double checked everything (the car and the written statement). Aside from running diagnostics, it also states that they checked most of their new supras on the lot (I saw it, they have 8) and none are twitching. It also says that there is no solution for this issue at this time and this issue WILL NOT AFFECT THE DRIVABILITY AND THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE.

One of the service guy said that it can be a future TSB but it depends on how many complaints that they will receive in regards to this issue.

That's exactly what I am seeing on mine, the engine start/stop button also blinks with the other light.

Hopefully we can get more people chiming in on what their car does when locked.

The one in the show room goes straight from lock to all the lights turned off in a few minutes without any wiper twitches. The tech said that its doing a expedited shut down sequence because its been parked in the show room for a while and the battery is low.

If that makes sense.

Does yours twitch too for 25 times within 5 minutes? I have heard one other owner said that his car does the same thing but not 25x / 5 minutes. Now I'm thinking of erasing the profile settings that I customized, like put it back to factory settings (default). I don't know if that is possible though. Coz I am thinking that there can be a possibility that the car's computer is trying to remember the driver settings when we turn off and lock the car and since mine has that custom settings, it will take longer to shutdown compare to a car with a default setting....

That’s not normal. Keep a copy of your records. Sounds like this may be a Lemon Car.

This sucks. I just did erase the settings on the drivers profile (put it back to default mode) and now it takes longer and more twitching :(...
34 times within 7minutes 38 seconds.

My supra is doing the same thing. Start button also flashes. Happens every shut off. I can't see it but can feel the driver side wiper twitch too. Typically approximately 50 times in 9 minutes.

I have found a workaround to stop twich. If after I have locked the car, I wait 10 seconds and push the lock button on the key fob the interior light will come on and the twitch will stop

How do you lock your the car? by touching the door handle or the lock button on the key fob?

I will try it tomorrow. How long did the interior light stayed on after you push the lock button on your key fob?
