What research are you talking about?

Toyota did not tell us they were basically changing the heads/engine and full on suspension and stiffening when the 2020 was coming out.

How would we know there would be such a drastic change after one year only?

We knew there would be stronger variants in the future (3-5 years), etc...but a full on engine change, not just the tune/hp numbers thats the concern, and suspension upgrades all around.

They basically cancelled out the initial LE for MY20 and made new LE for the 2021 as well...how does that make sense? I guarantee no one that bought a 2020 LE, either over sticker or at a good price was expecting that. No one knew it was this drastic of a change so soon.

This was known and discussed here and elsewhere on the internet in early-mid 2019. It was known even before the 2020 Supra began shipping in the summer. A BMW insider posted details here, and we tracked down the VINs of a dozen test cars with the 382HP engine.

I feel like any serious Supra enthusiast would have known about this well in advance unless they had their head under a rock. If that was the case, then they shouldn't be complaining or having buyer's remorse, since they obviously were happy enough to buy the 2020 car with the limited information they knew at the time.

I was following the forums since late 2018. No where did it say a new engine was going to be used 6 months after initial release. Toyota shot them selves in the foot. The remaining LEs are going to either sit or be heavily discounted now because the MY2021 is just around the corner.

It's not 6 months -- the 2021 model isn't coming out until June. Which will be almost exactly 1 year after the 2020 model went on sale.

I guess. Well good thing I leased mine. I'll just trade up when the 450 hp one gets released.

So if this is limited to 1000 units, is that world wide? And what will the non limited version be?

Is this meant to be a figure of speech, like "when pigs fly"?
If the supra is gonna get a revamp YoY. I dont think it's impossible. Initial R35 release was cheap compared to where it is now. Power on that is significantly higher than model year 1.

@A70TTR so the real badass 400+ hp Supra isn’t coming out this year? Or is this what you’ve been talking about? Jw

The 1,000 unit figure for the A91 Edition appears to be for the US market (500 each for the two available colors).

This is the particular model that I've been holding out for but the limited quantity will be an issue (and potential resurgence of ADMs from dealers).

For those experienced with acquiring limited edition models, I'm guessing the recommended strategy is to begin contacting all of my regional Toyota dealerships to reserve an allocation (though it's likely most dealerships have no idea about the upcoming 2021 A91 Edition)?
