Out of curiosity, has anybody removed the stock rear strut bar and left it off completely and tried to adjust the seats back more?

I am asking because when I try to recline my seats, it hits the rear strut bar and can't go back/lean down anymore.

I am wondering if removed, will you be able to move the seat backyards more and lean it down more. Yes, I like to drive around with the gangsta recline in my other cars.. LOL

Just got back from sitting in one at the dealer this evening. Wondering the same exact thing as you. Iā€™m 6ā€™4 and when I put the seat all the way back, you could tell the recline feature was binding as it pressed against the bar and I wasnā€™t able to get the seat to a comfortable position.

Yes it can be removed and pretty sure the seat would recline more, but that is a structural bar, you don't really want to remove it.

Better to get rid of the gangster lean and drive in a proper position where you have better control/ability to make quicker inputs/decisions, unless you are just really tall then I get it.

Iā€™ve seen a couple aftermarket rear braces that replace the factory one. One of them appears to be a thinner tubular style brace that might provide for a slight bit more recline.

That got me thinking that it might be possible to just have a fab shop retrofit a custom brace that has a slight bend or a modification to give the seat an extra 1-1.5 inches of rear movement...could be YUGE for us taller folks.

You gents who have an A90 mind looking to see if there is any other hang up spot (other than the brace) that would prevent the seat from reclining and or sliding back more?

I vaguely remember the rear plastic paneling of the pillar being fairly close (towards the left side of your shoulder).

...sorry to hijack your thread axix23 ;)...but hopefully this is some info you are looking for as well

Thanks for the help/info!

Seat hits the panel. Removing bar wonā€™t help.

if it does and someone can confirm, I would do it. It is more for the passenger than me but still like more adjustability.
