Red leather isnt that special. Every market other than the US has it. Canada has it without even getting the LE.
It may not be ‘rare’ but it is the reason I bought my car. I considered buying a phantom and also considered waiting for 2021 but I really didn’t want a black interior.

Just wait for the major revision in a year or 2. Everyone with an A91 will feel the pain. Everyone does at some point.

You can’t have the “newest and greatest” unless your pretty much trading in every 2. If that’s what you want get yourself a 2 year lease and trade in until your sick of the platform. If not, love your vehicle, mod it, drive it.

If you can afford to sell and get an a91 because of 50hp than do it! The higher flowing head is only relevant if you want to go 1000+ btw that’s the only area you will notice it is if your literally trying to push above 800hp. Multiple people have proven that the head and manifold is fine up to trans limits. So even with this new head we are still limited by the trans.

In theory none of this makes a difference to most people. If you want your Supra to be quick get a tune and dp. MY21 will have similar tuning options and similar acceleration to MY20 via aftermarket tuning.

Like I said, if you guys want to do the “apple shuffle” and can afford to then do it. I’m going to have fun with mine until I’m either ready to send it across an auction block or park it in a warehouse for 20 years.

Whatever you choose to do just enjoy it and don’t regret the decisions you make. That’s in all parts of life, not just silly things like when to get a new model vehicle.

❤

Not trying to sound like a hater at all because I'm not, but even if I didn't buy an A90 and I saw that blue A91 pull up next to me, my only thought would literally be this.

Shortly followed by salty thoughts when the clown gaps you by a car length or so. Lol

Could be 3.0 and 2.0. The larger tips are on the A91 so those are definitely 3.0
I think you're right. All of the 3.0 cars should have the red brake calipers I believe. Only the A91 cars show the red calipers, so the other colors must be the 2.0 option.

This news is awesome. Does anyone know if we're able to do some preorders from outside dealers that won't mark it up insanely high? I bought a Series.Blue edition BRZ back in 2014 from Colorado and had it shipped to the East Coast.

My Downshift Blue is now a very rare classic so it's selling for over MSRP :D

Supra History lesson.

1982, the new codeveleoped with Lotus Celica Supra hits the market. 142hp. 83 comes out, very small power increase, but the entire ignition timing system and most everything bolted to the motor is thrown out or redone. 84 model comes out, revised intake, compression change and big hp/torque gains. Mechanically the 82 is horrible in comparison, in the long run, no one really cares. Some prefer having the first year, its unique to all the others and the first of the line.

1986 the mk3 comes out, Turbo doesn't arrive till 87. Huge changes under the hood and power gains in 89. Some people still prefer the earlier cars.

I'm sure you can pin this all on BMW, they held onto their slightly sweeter motor to give the Z4 an advantage. But everyone on the internet has been moaning about the 335hp thing from the day it was announced so it's not surprising Toyota took some steps to securing the 382hp one. If it saves the car from being canceled, everyone wins.

Anyways, the only big change here on the mk5 is the head, the rest is marginal. People are talking like no parts are going to interchange between the 2 motors. The 2020s will have a different exhaust manifold and turbo upgrade options, likely unique downpipes too, the rest will all be the same. As for the actual difference your butt will feel, it is marginal. 50hp sounds like a lot, but for the thousandth time, it's the torque curve that dictates your acceleration curve, theres a small difference in the top end between the 2 dyno charts (we've compared them already in the big dyno thread). The HP calculation dramaticly rewards torque made at high RPMs, but torque is still king. 50/382 = 13%. The new 2021 will NOT be 13% faster, it doesn't work like that. I will be surprised if we see the full 2 tenths knocked off the 0-60 Toyota is claiming. The quatermile should see a little bump though. If this bothers you, retune your car, it will net a bigger gain then this new motor.
