Yeah, I am in Tucson, and of course it gets hot here as well. I don't know what to expect of the engine in hot weather.
I got mine on 15 Aug in Austin TX. Had plenty of F 100+ days, and no issues whatsoever. I’ve read and watched dozens of reviews, and not one I can recall has raised an issue with overheating. In fact I remember one review where they tried to overheat it and failed.

The new engine needs different cooling; our does not. If you’re concerned about the current engine, throw the Takeda CAI on and change out the boost pipes. Easy DIY upgrades.

You've missed a lot. The 2021 Supra uses the BMW M340i, which contains a host of design upgrades. Chief among them are the six (vs. 2) exhaust port heads and matching manifold. The engine also uses a higher capacity fuel system, a much more effective "split" cooling system, a lower compression ratio that permits higher boost levels...

So extensive are the changes that referring to the engines as "two different engines" isn't much of a stretch.

This still seems to be blown out of proportion. It’s not a massive “upgrade”, it’s just a big change, the two are not the same thing.

Your claim about an upgraded fuel system, I’ve not seen any Toyota source that makes that claim anywhere. Maybe for the m340i they’re getting a fuel pump upgrade to match the supras, but the Supra now has a much larger capacity fuel pump then the m340i

I think people need to take a deep breath and look at if this really affects them or is it affects their ego. I’m not attacking here as it is only natural to want the best, but the gap between more and enough never closes.

The MY2020 Supra currently keeps up with a MY2020 Z4 m40i in most reviews of 0-60 and quarter mile times. The additional power doesn’t help because the additional torque is not there. This isn’t the kind of gains from a DP and a tune where torque jumps with HP. For 100% of legal road use and 99% of illegal road usage, the cars are likely damn near identical in performance.

Officially it is .2 seconds faster to 60, but that is still .2 seconds slower than recorded stock times in some reviews. 12.3-12.4 seems to be the quarter times for both the Z4 and the Supra.

I can see being disappointed if you track the car heavily or your looking to build a complete monster and think the transmission is a disposable item, otherwise both will have a similar performance wall.

I have no serious issues because if I wanted a faster accelerating car, I’m still going to be forced to go with a DP and tune with either MY so my warranty would be gone either way.

Know what you don’t know. When a shop that tunes BMWs that has no horses in the game says it is no issue for most, they are probably right. Don’t let the trolls get in your head, there are a lot of unhappy people on the internet. Don’t let them turn you into one of them.

I genuinely enjoy this community because this odd duck seemed to attract people who didn’t have the common views that so many car forums have. Seeing it devolve into this is kinda shitty. Enjoy your 2020. Let those who waited enjoy their 2021.

So true.
My own car will be insanely fast, far beyond the daily usability.

Will be fast enough to have serious fun on track, but it will never be a track monster to start doing "time attack". As it will still remain for 99% of the time my daily ride.

I've never seen so many whiny grown men in that petition. "Its not fair Toyota," "we deserve compensation," "something needs to be done." :rolleyes1:

Life isn't fair. Nobody owes you anything. You chose, in many cases, to pay mark-up on a BMW produced car. This entails acceptance of BMW business practice and resale values. Nothing wrong with that at all but complaining that you are owed something is ridiculous.

If you purchased a 2020 supra because you thought it was an investment, it would hold its value, whatever.....you should stop listening to what anonymous people on the web post and start using your head and thinking. Those people complaining had plenty of advanced warning from Toyota on the frequent refreshes in the life cycle of this supra.

That means in plain English, expect to lose money every time an update occurs. It is what it is. Take the hit and trade up for the 2021 or keep your 2020 supra and make it the best 2020 you can.

I signed it but not a whiny baby, just in the morning. lol I enjoy mine and don't really care but if something were to happen, at least I did something. Investment? That would be very, very poor reasoning. My FJ Cruiser, turned out to be more of that, loosing almost no value but I didn't buy it for that, it was just luck I guess and after 8 years, no issues at all. Anyway, enjoying the hell out of the 2020!

Nah, I don't care. 1st day I did but you know what, life is short, get over it and enjoy what you have. Don't like it, sell your car or trade it in. We all know that the 1st year can be just that, them putting their toe in the water and see what needs to be done!

The MY20 Supra is still a great car. Other than retail value probably won’t be as good as the MY21 and up but it’s what it is.
