Just out of curiosity, which dealership is this? Just so I know to never go there....ever!

Louisiana here, seeing the same Temp fluxes as you lately. My battery is all good. Something is up. Do you have anything hardwired or added on?yeah, Iām calling around. I daily it. Dealership says itās the TX temperature flux. Makes no sense.
I wouldnāt be surprised if some of these dealers didnāt even know the location of the battery, lol!I think it's ridiculous how many dealerships (at least until the last couple months) were sticking to $5K-10K markups due to the MKV's "halo car" status - then act like you bought a used Yaris when you need after-sale support of any kind. Definitely not "halo car" service that's for sure.
Sad but true... they definitely don't know about proper shut down procedures since all of them I looked at (including mine) had the warning on.I wouldnāt be surprised if some of these dealers didnāt even know the location of the battery, lol!
N Dakota checking in...Over the past week it has ranged from mid 40s to -20. Battery on the Supra, X5M and LX all working as designed.Yeah.. we've got basically the same temperatures... actually mine are worse... we get more days per year under freezing than you and many more days over 100F than you (like 60 or more every year). So there's no way a battery they regularly put in cars going to Scandinavia and the Middle East as well is failing due to the "temperature swings" in Austin.
Looks like this last week you had highs in the low 70's and lows in the mid 40's... exactly the same as we had here. Pretty much the least difficult weather for a battery actually... if you lived in N. Dakota I could almost buy that excuse (but it would still be BS).
When I told them the temperature explanation didnāt make sense, the service advisor just said, ā well, you gotta pay to play.āAustinGR-
Politely call the dealer tomorrow and explain you don't want to get an attorney involved or lemon law the car.
If they still don't budge... Call Toyota direct and explain the issue about having to lemon law the car and the daggers poor service.
If that doesn't help... Just send a certified letter to the dealer adding for it in writing as to the denial of warranty for the battery.
No guarantees... But it will help.
Call Toyota!!! Raise hell. That's an enormous amount of BS. And find another dealership! When I told them the temperature explanation didnāt make sense, the service advisor just said, ā well, you gotta pay to play.ā
I would be seriously considering at that point to get it replaced at another dealer then use that $650 and some change for a billboard stating those asshats told me to pay to play while the dealer across town took care of me.When I told them the temperature explanation didnāt make sense, the service advisor just said, ā well, you gotta pay to play.ā
I actually have the same warning on my car right now. About to take mines in as well.My instrument cluster had a "replace battery" indication, when I bought the car. The dealership checked it out and it was just a software flash to address the issue. I'm sure it would have been a $500 replacement if it was on my bill. Just sayin
Mine had it before I bought my car. I was told the battery was replaced then when I bought the car, after a week or so, I asked for the documentation that the battery had been replaced and they said it had been charged up. I said I was told it had been replaced. . . and so it went, excuses and they asked who told me that, 2 people, but they suck, just like many dealerships. Never seems to change, and I used to trust them, no longer though.I actually have the same warning on my car right now. About to take mines in as well.
Did they change the battery out or just clear the codeMine had it before I bought my car. They told me they put a new battery in but then I found out, when I pushed for a confirmation, that they had cleared the code and charged the battery. It wouldn't start on the showroom floor. I wasn't there when it wouldn't start, and happened to be told about the issue, which I imagine, they wished they had not told me. It has left a lot of distrust for them with me.Did they change the battery out or just clear the code
Mine (as well as every other car on the floor) had the same thing when I bought it too. As well, I was told they replaced the battery. I'm inclined to believe that they did as they actually had to wait for the battery to come in. I drove it back to the dealership the next day for battery replacement. Maybe they just cleared the code and charged it up, but after this whole thread I am well armed to make warranty claims if they ever decide to stick me with the cost of a new battery inside 36 months at least.Mine had it before I bought my car. I ask the service adviser does he have to pay to be an a$$h@le or was he born that way? When I told them the temperature explanation didnāt make sense, the service advisor just said, ā well, you gotta pay to play.ā
