i hope things are taken care of. i only have 1 recall for the LCD brightness but thank god i didnt get a call yet for this headlight issue.

i pciked up my car from dealreship on sept last year but i dont know how long the car been there. could have fallen within July production time
That’s entirely possible - I picked my car up Sept 19 but it was right after the dealer got it. If your car sat for a few weeks it’s possible it was built earlier than the bad run of PCBs.

Seeing as how this is ongoing for a few of you, it is likely in your state that there's an arbitration process available should you be unsatisfied with the resolution you're getting from Toyota/your dealer. There's likely some information available on your state attorney general's website. Arbitration exists specifically to help "normal people" attempt to resolve issues without resorting to hiring attorneys, but I'd still probably recommend consulting a lemon lawyer if you're going that route.

If the arbitration still doesn't resolve your concerns, you'd also have the option to appeal in a state court. That most definitely needs an experienced lemon law attorney.

Know your rights!

I would file a complaint with your State's Attorney Generals office. The arbitration process provided by Toyota is biased. I have gone thorugh a lemon process with my previous Toyota.

Yeah, I consulted with a lemon lawyer who had agreed to accept my case. He indicated the clock would reset to zero and the process would take 90 days.

A few days later, Toyota sent me my letter notifying me that they’d be buying back my car so I didn’t pursue the lawyer route.

At this point I’m not even sure a lawyer would take a case if Toyota is mid buyback. Anyone have experience with this?

It's quite likely it isn't really necessary at this point, but keep it in your back pocket. If Toyota plays nice and you're happy with the resolution, there isn't an issue. But if they start really dragging their feet or not giving you the deal you thought you were getting, that's when you'd want to involve an attorney. There's really nothing preventing an attorney from taking your case, but they may have nothing to do if Toyota is being nice, so it isn't worth it to you, at least not yet, and may never be.

It sounds like your state may also have a formalized process, and Toyota is remedying your issue outside of that process. That's fine! But don't forget you've got another process to help you in your back pocket, if it all goes to hell. Toyota has requirements under the law, and an attorney is just your hammer, so to speak, to make sure they fulfill their requirements.

From everything I have read and my personal experience Toyota is taking ownership of this problem and taking care of their customers. You won't need a lawyer if you can negotiate with you local dealer.

Maybe they will just give you a 2021 instead? Lol.
I’ve actually been trying to figure out if I can manage to wait that out...

have you tried calling NHTSA below to file a complaint? Instead of Tada San working on new engines and getting more new customers. How about taking care of existing customers that already paid for their cars? I would be reaching out to anybody at this point. CEO or whoever who can make it right for you.

I got my buyback letter today but it’s wrong.

Somehow the brain trust at my dealership failed to submit my $1800 warranty to Toyota Financial, but managed to submit the cancellation for the same.

So now Toyota Financial says they have no record of the warranty application (luckily I have the paperwork), and they mistakenly canceled the second $885 warranty I bought using the special hookup on the forum (the cancellation paperwork was processed on the only warranty associated with my VIN).

Anyhow, they owe me money for both but now the dealer is the one who will have to pay me the $1800. I’m asking my lemon coordinator to get the dealer plugged into this. Total nightmare.

Just a casual reader. This is taking way too long to resolve. You should follow up with that lemon law attorney. Toyota dealer is not taking care of you. We want to believe Toyota will do the right thing, but sometimes it's just wishful thinking. Attorneys ask questions and bring up things you and I probably never even considered. There are times in my life I finally resorted to talking to an attorney and I always wished I had done that sooner. Don't wait anymore. It's time for an attorney to address this. This is a brand new $55k car you are paying for but you are unable to enjoy.

23 weeks in the shop this coming Monday.

Oddly, the loaner car guy at the dealership said they initially set the expectation with him that my issue could take 6 months...
