Probably 2o2o would be enough and with remap U will go 400+ crank, that is pleeeenty for road use :) 2020 will be cheaper but probably will hold value bit worse on the ither hand.
But I would go for 21 not for the power, but for the suspenion work and immproved steering calibration.
2020 is great anyway, U will be happy no matter what U chose :)

The suspension is the only thing that turns me off the 2021 actually. This is my DD and a tighter suspension would drive me nuts. If they can accomplish it with sport only, then great.

I would wait for the 2022. Heard it will be another 50rwhp. So your look close to 450whp then with a nicer steering wheel also too
I heard this as well, let me see if I can find that video or article again...from what I read it will all come in form of tuning which is cool.

I would just wait until the 21 comes out and drive it. Compare the two years and decide.

Anyone notice that the Z4 already has the promised HP upgrade the Supra gets next year? What will be the difference between the 382 the Z4 has now and the 380ish the Supra will get?

I would wait a few years and watch others driving successive years of the car go by. :^)

I dont think any, this should be what 2021 gets. There are more knowledgeable guys on here about it though, maybe they will chime in

The MY2021 Supra is basically getting the M40i Z4's engine. The cars were co-developed at the same time so it makes sense. The main differences will be weight and suspension tuning. Very confident a dyno graph will show both cars torque and power curves nearly identical.

Also, the 2.0 4cycl Supra coming is basically the US base 30i Z4's engine. Same HP and TQ figures as well. Biggest differences, again, suspension tuning and weight.

EDIT: The 2021 Supras are expected to arrive in June of this year. Not next year.

I think anyone not living under a rock would have noticed this -- the Z4 launched with that engine in early 2019.

Z4 dyno figures are at around 380whp.. A healthy 40whp above Supra numbers..

Car&Driver also tested both 0-130mph with the Z4 around 2 seconds ahead

that’s a pretty significant jump. 2 seconds is what .. 4 car length?

Butt dyno will provide great results.

I would wait another 5 years. It is bound to be better then and you can spend those 5 years reading about what other people are doing with the current Supra or what ever year you are reading about.
Maybe he should wait 10 years. That way the Supra will be retired a second time.

Z4 M40i weighs more not less.

3,457lbs vs the current I6 A90 @ 3,397lbs (MY21 will weigh 3,400lbs)
