I had a catless downpipe when I was running on Map 3 on 93 octane and didn't have any issues at all. I had it on the dyno and put down some great safe numbers with that setup. Reach out to Terry at Burger Tuning and he's pretty helpful with answering any questions. He would be able to give you a concrete answer to that question.
Thanks Ryan. When you went to a flash tune, did you notice a big difference compared to the JB4 on map 3?

Yes if you go to a flash tune and get a custom map you should see substantial gains from Map 3 on JB4. Even the OTS flash maps have good gains over the JB4 but the JB4 is still worth the money as it is a super easy setup and piggyback system. It's a good place to start tapping into the potential gains on this platform.

If you are looking for the more gains I would recommend a flash tune and get with one of the tuners using MHD or BM3. If you can wait a little while the EcuTek is going to be the best setup. Maybe run the JB4 until the EcuTek beta system has been developed a little further.

Very impressive numbers. I'm currently running Map 3 with E30 and the car is absolutely savage. I'm running a catted downpipe, HKS drop in and the Jb4. Has no trouble lighting spinning the tires at this power level. Can't imagine another 4 psi of boost on top of where it is now.

On map 3 the logs are showing ~15 psi of boost and 15 - 16 degrees of timing at redline. No ignition timing corrections either. Just a smooth ramp up in timing as RPM increases. Pretty impressive.

Yes you have to connect it to the OBD port if you plan on running any map above 1. The car doesn't freak out with it connected when I lock it. It behaves just like it did when it was completely stock other than when you push the right pedal.

They don't go into detail, but I believe the JB4 control box reads engine parameters via OBD2 and then alters the MAP and IAT values to trick the factory ECU into running a more aggressive timing and boost profile. I will say that even though you can technically run map 3 on 93 octane, I'd highly recommend adding a gallon or 2 of ethanol to boost the octane.

On straight 93, I was seeing the timing round 8 degrees of timing and 16 psi of boost at redline. So while map 3 is safe with 93, there's definitely more power to be had once some ethanol is thrown in. Under E85, the JB4 appears to run slightly less boost but more ignition timing.

I'm running JB4 map3 with MST CAI and catless DP. It's giving me these codes. I also got the DWP set to 75. Is this normal? Thanks.
