Looks like the UK model got puddle lights and footwell lights. In the US model we have none of those. I wonder if we need to have to buy a wiring harness or if it's behind the panel.

Man... I feel like they really screwed over US buyers. Between not having an easy-to-access 12v port in the trunk and now realizing that for some silly reason they didnā€™t think we needed the puddle or footwell lights, either, I really just donā€™t understand their logic.

Iā€™ll be interested to see if anyone is able to determine if the wiring is in place in US cars for this to be an easy install.

Wanted to give you all an update on the projection lights:
Got a call this week, asking if my dealership should put them in my Supra today, while they were working on it (first oil change). I was surprised, but also very happy, that they were finally delivered.

This was taken right after I was back home, in the garage with indirect sunlight, but I'm sure it will look much better early in the morning when I'm driving to work.

Some information on the lights:
  • Manufactured in China
  • They are standard BMW projection lights (even the box says "BMW Group")
  • Plug and play: just unplug the original ones and plug these in.
A little off topic, but is the metal door sill in the picture a OEM option??

Found the hole for the puddle lights. Anyone know where the hole for the foot well lights are?

Passenger side (RHD). Driver side is similar. It is at a weird angle because lights are located at an angle you are not meant to see them normally, I.e. unless you stick your head where your feet usually would be.

Australian model seems to be more in common with Europe and Japan than the US... I want those gimmicky puddle lights for some reason...

Here's the location for the puddle lights on the US model. Doesn't look as though it would be a straight drop in and would require some cutting of the door garnish to mount them. No idea if the wiring is behind the door. If it were an actual Toyota, I'd say the chances were good. But I couldn't guess as to how BMW goes about things.

Puddle and footwell lights are more useful then most think when it's your daily. The amount of time I've avoided water filled potholes or dropped stuff at my feet. I also feel like it's so dark within the cockpit of
the car.
