Hey All,

I'm new to the list, but have had my Launch Edition for about a month. I haven' driven it much as I travel back and forth between Denver and Dallas (where the car is). The Chassis Issue prompted me to search this forum and then made me look over the rest of the car to see if there were any other issues. The chassis issue started on a rainy day where I had a little gliding going on and figured maybe it was just erratic driving and would reset. When it did not, and then came on regularly, I knew it was time to bring it in. I had noticed the Emblem looked a little off, but as suggested in other posts, depending on how the lighting is, it may be hard to see, but up close, there was definite distress, likely due to a manufacturing imperfection. I noticed the speaker issue with some deep bass songs, and at first, I thought it was just a super deep bass (I hit my bass end of the equalizer all the way up and treble down low) and only a problem with certain channels, but after turning up the volume, and trying several channels, realized it was the speaker(s) themselves. Thanks to this forum, I was able to see these issues and when I went to the dealer, I mentioned that the issues I am seeing may be more widespread then just my car.

Today, I brought the car in and left it with the dealer of which they promptly called me back after a deep review and here is what they found and my apparent resolution:
1) The chassis issue was indeed a loose sensor. Not a problem for regular driving per se, but is an issue and may affect overall performance. A new sensor is needed and apparently, it is very fine-tuned, so I off slightly, this will occur. It is a BMW part, not stocked by my dealer, but the gladly ordered the new part.Toyota's default check method is the battery in the FOB, but that was not the issue. Again, this forum helped, but also the BMW-trained tech was thorough
2) The Emblem sucks, they are putting a new one on the car - the Emblem is standard and your dealer should replace.
3) They ordered me new speakers, no questions asked. Likely they are aware of the issue and likely it is either a cheap malfunction, or as suggested on this forum, a loose plastic part or bushing or something.

My dealership is outstanding (I have had others that are not) and between my friends and I, we have a bought a few cars from them. I have extended warranties, but also the car only has 300 miles on it. Not sure if all dealers work this way, but this one wants to ensure my car is perfect and is replacing everything, no cost and even offered to drive me around or give me a loaner. I will be out of town all next week, so I am leaving them with the car and will report back to the group, what happens when I get it back. To that end, not sure how many days any of these issues will actually take, but it will be ready when I return.

On a separate note, I have driven Toyota's for 3 decades and between warranties, service, etc., never had an issue that wasn't immediately resolved. I have a 2018 86GT stick shift model and no issues - also, this is truly one of the most fun cars I have ever driven - under-powered in a good way and outstanding for drifting on back streets. I will say this, for an under $60k MSRP, the Supra is by far, the best sportscar out there - I have driven others, and friends have some higher end cars and also they have had issues out of the box. This collaborative effort with BMW in a first year car, will likely have us all scratching our heads from time to time, but I am quite certain Toyota will make good on anything that isn't right. In the meantime, the Supra is a beast for what it is and very fun to drive, so I hope you all continue to feed the forums and share your experiences!

Congrats on the purchase David!
As you may know, not everyone on the forum had the same luck as you when it comes to fixing defects, but I'm glad they're treating you right!!
I'll tell you this though, my dealer is luckily a Toyota/BMW dealer, so they were easily able to get tech and parts/cables/software support from BMW right away. Despite this after car was delivered to the dealer, it took them 2-3 days to work out all the activation, errors, sensor adjustment, etc. which is a reasonable amount of time given it was their first car ever and it was more procedural and nothing in their control.

Anyhow, if we made a poll, I think all owners would opt-in for cracked emblems, which I'm curious if it was a supplier snafu, shipping or certain batch... But, seeing how you didn't get this car last year when it first came out, I don't quite get why they couldn't see and change the emblem that sits in the dealer...

PS. added you to the LE registry.

Enjoy!

Quick Update: Ended up back in Dallas so I picked up my car early. :They replaced the sensor issue and the car is driving perfectly. Had to order Speakers and Emblem and they won't be in until later this month. I am guessing they have seen these issues or at least understand them at my dealership. They said they were waiting on "parts" and new speakers, but not sure if they will just replace just the speakers or add some baffling, etc. As for the Emblem, I guess they are specific to the Supra as it is on order as well. I will keep you posted on those two issues.
