I experienced something similar to this on mine a couple months ago. Car was completely fine driving to and from and dinner, got stuck momentarily when I got home trying to clear an ice patch in front of my driveway. Moved forward and back a couple times to clear it, and when I got it into the garage, noticed that throttle response was cut in half, and noticeable lack of power, especially before 3k.

I'm on bm3 with a downpipe, tried changing maps, even back to stock and no change. There were no malfunction indicators or anything either. Used the reset DME function and it cleared up whatever the hell it was. Haven't experienced anything like that since. My only guess is the traction problem caused by the ice did something to piss off the trans and/or diff, but for some reason didn't trigger any kind of code or indicator.

I've heard of this exact some thing occurring on BMW M2's as well, and specifically when trying to get unstuck on driveways/roads. Something baked into the DIFF computer to preserve it in the event that it gets too hot perhaps.

I would think there should be some aftermarket trans and diff coolers available soon, if not already.

Just for reference, here's the power "sport display", showing 246kw/412nm when it was working fine, then shortly after, while still at full throttle, showing 146kw/257nm and feeling like it was NA..
