Ok so I'm posting this and I'm an idiot for doing this but hopefully me posting it will help others avoid this from happening...

So I've had my car for about 2 weeks now and when I drove it across the country (My supra LE now has 4170 miles)

I would fill up at a gas station and you could imagine a drive like that across the country I'd kill ALOT of bugs so my windshield was covered with dead bugs... So I tried to clean my windshield and raise my wiper blades. Well this is my first MKV and for the most part my first BMW (This might be a BMW thing) the wiper blades do NOT fully extend up for an easy windshield clean job. Doing so will scratch the back portion of your hood. Which I did on day 2 Yikes... Luckily for me being a Southern California Resident I have 2 great contacts (A: Mechanic B: Bodyshop Reapir)

They were able to touchup my hood to remove that scratch. But just a fair warning/reminder to those MKV owners out there don't full extende your blades you will in fact scratch up that nice hood of yours...

And yea I drive my Supras ;)

I use the wiper service mode when I clean my windshield. I just hold down on the wiper control and it moves them up so I can fold them away from the windshield.
Haha How do I enter this mode? Thanks I'm such a noob... But then again I've been driving my old Supra for years until I picked this up.

Since you put so many miles on, is DTE accurate? What was the max gals of fuel you put in? I recently put in 12.5 gallons & my range said 47miles! Should only be around 25-30 miles with around 1 gal left.

My DTE is accurate within 50 miles. I haven't gone under that limit to check but I will admit that I believe it to be above the bar. Meaning 1.8 gallons will show as 1 bar. I'm also basing this assumption under the idea that having full bars doesn't last very long. I need more time to pay attention to this but my DTE seems accurate to me and I'm VERY HAPPY with both the DTE and the fuel consumption of this vehicle as compared to my MKIV which makes the Supra MKV (If you can make this happen) the ultimate daily driver.

I mean a guy is uber lucky if he's legitimately able to call an MKV his daily driver.

Itā€™s in the manual. Hold down the wiper stalk and I think on the third wipe they will stay up. Then you can pull away. Sorry you damaged your hood.

Haven't tried since I don't have the car yet, but my TTRS had a clamshell hood as well with this same issue.

For their windshield "service mode" if you turned power onto the car (button without the brake pedal). Turn it off then immediately use the windshield it would raise them straight up.

hopefully you don't have to hold it and go through 3 wipes before it stays up.....sounds like a waste of wiper usage as most of the time it'll be against a dry windshield

Sorry to hear about the hood damage and hope it comes out clean after the repair.

I have about 3500 miles on mine and it is 100% a daily driver and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I even had to Uber home when I dropped it off at the last dyno session. I'm not quite done with the M3 build as that would be my backup when the Supra is getting modded. It's tough trying to heavily mod it and be the first trying things out when it's your daily driver, but with risk you can also have reward.

Hey, I appreciate you telling us about this, cause I know I would have done the same thing. You saved me a big headache.

Besides a virtual high five, I have nothing to offer you.

If you don't mind me asking, how deep was the scratch on yours? Long story short, the same thing happened to my car, but I didn't notice it at the dealership when I picked up the car and so after it came back from PPF, I noticed it. PPF shop, dealership, and myself are currently still trying to figure out how it got there.

The right side for me cut through the paint to the primer and then bare metal in a small portion of that, so I was curious if touch up would be sufficient or if that would need serious work. Mine is in yellow

I owned an older 2006 BMW E90 before this a90, and I didnā€™t have an issue with raising wiper blades straight up from normal position. Thankfully, I didnā€™t raise the Supraā€™s wipers with much force during a wash and caught the distance before it got to touching the hood. sorry to hear about your damage, though.

p.s. this is probably a super late reply to this post, but Iā€™m new to the forums haha
