People saying that the MY20 wont be worth it for resale or whatever down the road because the new model is better will be saying the same thing every year. Every year it wont be worth it if thats the case since they will be refreshing yearly. Just get a 20 if you find a deal. I was kind of in the same boat since I felt I needed a new vehicle. I probably could have waited but I went for it. For me it was between the Infiniti Q60 red sport and a used Benz C43 coupe. Heard too many things about the Infiniti motor so went away from that. Benz would have been nice but ended up wanting the Supra more. You can always get something else down the line

Yeah, i feel you. I was considering between m4 and supra but I think a new car always beat the old one so I go with supra. I am going with the 2020 and then the 2021 one comes out, I will wait a couple month and then trade it in for the 2021

Where in TX are you located? Im in SA and the only dealership that was helpful was the one I got mine at, Toyota of Boerne. I would suggest talking to them if you are in the area. All the other dealers here wanted over msrp or msrp. Guess the ones over msrp are finally coming down cuz one of them tried to contact me last week asking if I was still interested

Im at Dallas, they all take down the markup already. One of the dealerships tried to call me like 3-4 times. I told them i want 8k+ off. They told me that impossible but they kept on calling me to make me rethinking about it lol.

As someone who paid no markup for a 2020...... unless you get a 2020 with $8000 or more off msrp, wait for the 2021.

Just curious, why the $8,000 figure?

Was that number arbitrary or do you have an interesting reason for that benchmark?

$8000ish puts a loaded premium/launch around the same cost that most dealers (at least around me) were selling the base for. This is the only way it would make sense to purchase a 2020 in my opinion.

If I could redo it, Iā€™d wait for the 2021 regardless of price drops in the 2020. But for someone else they may rather save the money.

Edit: Actually, if I could redo it, Iā€™d just buy a GTR. Lol

What's your opinion? It looks like the 2021 is going to come with a objectively better engine and a new "special edition". However, I have been talking to my dealer and it looks like I can get a pretty steep discount on a 2020. I don't know the exact number yet, but when I bring my Tacoma in for regular service we are going to talk numbers and take one out.

meh. my local dealers aren't really discounting 2020's even though they've been sitting since the first delivery 6 months ago, even when they are partially shut down due to covid-19. the most i've seen is $2k CAD rebate from toyota and that's it.

That's strange. They are taking off $5k at my dealer without any additional model/brand discounts at the moment and it sounds like I'm going to be able to do even better than that.

yeah i don't get it either. i guess they can afford to sit on inventory. they have one in a old scion display at the back of the showroom roped off from everyone. it's been sitting so long the tires are losing air and is sitting slightly lopsided. it's sad.

i think since the c8 came out. supra value will go down. would you get a base model c8 or 2021 supra?
I don't think I would be able to enjoy a totally base model C8. The performance is great, sure, but the base model C8 is very lack luster to get it down to that price point. The second you add the desirable options the C8's entry fee goes way up. So totally stripped base C8 vs Supra? I would pick a Supra.

If you donā€™t track and just casually drive then go for discount 2020 then. I donā€™t really see a good reason to pay sticker for a MY21.
