Greetings all,

I only drive the Supra once a week for around an hour or 2. When I parked it in the garage, do I have to plug in the battery tender?

Nope.

but if you start pushing it to 3-4 weeks between drives then I would strongly suggest getting that tender.

I would still plug it in. I compare the voltage and even without driving the car for a week, the voltage on the battery has dropped slightly. Better safe than sorry!

I keep mine plugged in all the time. BMW electrical systems draw power, even when the car is parked.

Car Battery question

I drive my Supra about twice every other week..... what’s the best way to keep the car battery in good shape?

Your supra battery is lead acid, FYI. The only Li-ion battery I'm aware of is in the telecommunications module.

Sorry my bad. Most performance bmws like my m3 are using lithium ion, so I assumed the supra was the same.

Your M3 does indeed have a Li-ion battery. This was done to save about 40 pounds in weight, and is done on all the M-cars. That battery costs well over $1500. Non-M BMWs still use lead acid batteries, as does the Supra, at about 1/4 the cost. Again, FYI.

I use this. Just hooks up to the battery in the trunk with a quick disconnect. Works great.

In canada the 2021 is an AGM battery. Or glass mat
Dealer manager suggested $100 lo amp tender / maintainer. Attach at poles under hood

There is a BMW charger that does both regular and lithium ion. I use it for my Supra.
BMW 61-43-2-408-594 Battery Charger. It's available on Amazon for $125.
I works very well as a charger and a maintainer if it is used for long term storage.

Yeah I'm really worried about the replacement cost of my battery. It will be 6 years old soon and I'm trying my best to be diligent about keeping it fully charged but the day will come it will finally go bad ?

According to the manual you should not hook it up directly to the battery. Use the terminals under the hood.
