Will new Supra have to compete with next Nissan 370Z (300Z?)

Looks like we're rapidly getting to the point where delivering on that GTR 2020 concept won't be possible, at least not by 2020.

Z car, yeah I just don't see Nissan spending to make anything impressive. I could see them warming over the 370 and calling it a 390 or something. But who knows. I loved my G35, but I think I've moved on from the idea of the Z car in general at this point in my life.

that brings up an interesting idea actually; they could just put the VR30DDTT in the Z34, refresh the outside and add some more modern tech and either rename it or just roll with yet another 370 refresh (basically meaning there was a zenki, chuki, and kouki)

A 400horsepower Z car could be pretty compelling. Could even call it a 400Z or 400ZX which would sound cool and market well. Even the 300 horse variant could be compelling depending on price.

Seems like it would be pretty cheap for them to do something like that. However Nissan is all about keeping old stuff alive, and warming up the old leftovers to make them new again. I would have to take a look at the sales figures, but it seems like refreshes on the 370 are pretty irrelevant at this point. But Nissan loves being Nissan.

I'd love to see the return of a turbo Z. Like the return of a 3.0 TT Z....oh man...if it could only be.

Shame they couldn't do something like this with the GTR( or supra).

What did they do to that poor Corvette?!?
Heyyy....be nice. I think they can make the GTR look like a pinto and it will still break records.

GTR so oooollld.

Back in 2008 when they hit I would have killed for one. Now that I've finally got the money, it's a decade old, don't really want it anymore, especially at the much bigger price. :p

Whatever the successor is though, it'll surely be a monster. But who knows when we'll get it.

Shame that the Z will die , planning for the z34 had started but it was cancelled , maybe they will pick it up after 2-3 years after current gen is gone like they did with the 350z.

The Z died when the 300ZX was discontinued....same with almost all the great Japanese superstars (i.e., RX-7, NSX, etc...). The only true successor of the bunch is the GT-R. Let's hope the MKV Supra doesn't join the league of failures.

Yes i feel the same way and agree with what you said. A shame tho that a sports car is killed , even if you don't like it. For example i never liked the 350z/370z ,the rx 8 and the s2000 , not my cup of tea but i didn't like the news about the death of these cars. Generally speaking having competition in the segment is always good. The Z made the supra better and the supra made the Z better , mercedes with audi and bmw with each gen of cars they improve because of the competition.

Yes, the collaboration.
But with the new Type R, wouldn't the Supra get better by that logic?
