Hey guys, noticed this noise about a week ago. It seems to come and go and it pleases. Managed to get it on video today. It sounds like small rod knock but is not consistent which leads me to believe it is something else. It is coming from the pedal/trans tunnel area and only happens around idle rpms.

This video seems to have amplified the sound, it is not this loud in person. Itā€™d be really helpful if a couple of you guys could test this out for me. Itā€™s always when starting the car up cold and driving it a few feet, can you guys see if you ever hear this during start up? Iā€™ve seen one other guy on here with the same issue and the dealer told him nothing was wrong. Trying to see if this is just a supra perk or if we might have an underlying issue. Thanks in advance!!!!!!!

The Supra has a bunch of panels that use a plastic twist tensioner to secure. I had a couple rattles that turned out to be these bastards as for whatever reason, the twist clip was not engaged.

There are two in the upper rear corners of the engine bay. Both of mine had to be turned to secure. Under the dash they have these in each side and one of the two panels they secure was not locked in.

They would vibrate at low rpms, just I cannot tell you where they sounded like they came from as I canā€™t hear shit in one ear. :dunno:

This likely wonā€™t help, but it sure as shit would be the first things I try as they are terribly easy checks vs getting under the car and playing whack a mole on looking for shit. Or heaven help you, going through the dash looking for something loose.

Eventually Iā€™m gonna go through everything and figure it out. It doesnā€™t sound like rest of the rattles I get though.

Would you by any chance have pictures of these tensioner pieces and in their respective locations within the car you mentioned?

Thanks,

Any updates on this? I've had this noise too, but when I open my door, or when the car is warmed up, it seems to go away on it's own

Iā€™ve just learned to ignore the noise. Someone commented on my YouTube video and said it seems to be coming from under the seat

Ah, that sorta sucks for a car at this price point. But it is negligible
