In 2016 my daughter-in-law and 14-year-old granddaughter were in a high energy impact collision when a pick-up truck crossed lanes and hit them. They were in a Toyota Sienna, known for it's safety performance. The Sienna was destroyed to the point of being unrecognizable. My daughter-in-law was killed almost immediately. She suffered significant blunt force trauma and lived just a few minutes and didn't make it out of the drivers seat. Right next to her, my granddaughter received bruises and a few very minor scrapes. It all really depends on the dynamics of the impact - speed, angle, momentum, vehicle configuration, portion of vehicle struck, etc.
