Although the car looks better in person vs photo, agree. The short wheelbase and that huge slap of fake door vent was not the best design execution.
The car looks so much better in person but it is still misses the mark on what would make it a timeless design. The wheelbase is longer than the 992 911 so I don't think that is an excuse and had the potential to look like a slightly smaller Japanese AMG GT if they played the cards they were dealt instead of forcing the FT-1 styling

Yup, I wished it looked lower and more sleek up front. I kinda of like the headlights. :dunno:
I like the headlights on their own but combined with the low F1 style nose and high hood line, it makes the car look narrow and doesn't draw your attention from the front end down the length of the body (which is a line that doesn't flow either) like the F Type, AMG GT, and Cayman. These cars all take your attention through the headlights seamlessly. The A90 tries to do this with the DRL but it is overshadowed by the shape of the housing.

You're right, even with the short wheelbase they could still have pulled it off if they had done something similar to this old render.

Still toxic as ever.
It's honestly insane how the dynamic of this forum is entirely different from Supraforums. I mean we're all fans and its still communicating over the internet.
They're just passionate about the Supra name. Not that I agree with everything on FS, but just imagine the FT1 skin on the LC but with the LS' turbo V6..:drool::drool:

This is such a better designed car. The vent doesn't take away from rear quarter line that goes down to the bottom of the door. Also the hood is lower in the corner by the mirror which makes the front fenders look more pronounced and is a less dramatic of transition from belt line to hood line.

It looks so much clearer without that stupid door piece. What was Toyota thinking with that one?

They weren’t, they were too fixated on making the FT-1 fit a smaller a car instead of creating a design the flows together.

Although an argument can be made the A90 is cooler, more aggressive, and bolder than the cars I have shown above, the A90 is not nearly as beautiful. What is unfortunate is that it will take all new body panels to turn this into a clean “timeless” design and I don’t think that is possible with a mid generation facelift

Yeah the Viper isn't much longer than the Supra at 98.8 in, but it's side profile is so much sexier.

Sometimes I look at the car and think that it looks good, and other times I don't understand how they can mess it up so bad. The styling is just something I can't get passed and there are so many choices that come across like they didn't care.

Why is there a door piece at all? The aftermarket can't even fix this.
Why is the fender integrated into the rocker? You can't even get new sideskirts without also buying a new fender.
Why are the front bumper sensors integrated into the vertical slats? The aftermarket can't fix this because those have to be where they are.
Why do the side extensions not reach the end of the bumpers? You can't even remove them without having holes in your bumper and aftermarket ones are even larger.

But it is somehow 'built for the aftermarket' yet is constrained to it's hyper aggressive styling. Can I get a conservative body kit or should I wait for the XLE trim to come out?

I'd still take the Supra over these 3, because I've only seen the Supra once whereas I've seen the other 3 cars more than 10x

All of those cars have been out for 5+ years, we will see which designs age better in 4 years

I heard somewhere that Toyota had to design and produce a new machine to manufacture the rear fenders and that they were very proud of their achievement

Does anyone have more info?

I was looking around to see if there was any for the facelift, all I saw was the original design trademark. It appears the final design was frozen for quite sometime and rumors and hearsay of a last minute design were just that.
