I had my battery replaced at delivery. It was replaced with the Toyota labeled battery (which I'm sure is likely a BMW part like everything else). I have never seen the Replace Battery warning since.
Damn...Thanks for letting me know. They already ordered the BMW battery, so I'll talk them next week. I'm hoping is just a lack of understanding because its a BMW system and not a bigger issue.

Sounds like they just didnā€™t get the registration process done correctly or something like that. Iā€™m not sure what-all is involved with it but Iā€™m sure theyā€™ll figure it out.

Once you get the warning it doesn't matter what the battery charge state level is. You'll have to get the dealer to reset it and hopefully they know what they are doing.

Had a "replaced battery" light on aswell when I bought my Supra last month. Was told would disappear after driving but never did. Brought it in to Toyota to replace the battery but at the end it took them 4 hours and said they just needed to recalibrate the ECU. The warning light is gone now. However I was furious since they didn't replaced the battery which was promised to me. Anyways, made a complaint and they are sending a flat bed to pick up and deliver back the Supra for battery replacement.

After talking to manager, apparently its not as simple as removing the battery and putting a new one in. They have to recalibrate the system so no lights will appear. Not sure if they are telling truth

Yes just check your battery if its still in good condition since the oem battery of the supra is agm They hardly die easily . Its just that the ecu sends a code when it reaches a low percentage you have to have it coded at your dealer . Thats what i did on mine

When I went to look at my Supra the same battery replacement warning was on the display. Still the engine started with no problems and after going for a ride the warning never went away. So after coming to an agreement on price, I told them it needed to be fixed. They did and also provided me with the notice from Toyota to their techs about what you all have experienced here. The main thing for you to know if that the doors need to be locked. Otherwise some features inside the car will stay on additional to the typical self checks. Now, since I had a corvette I know all about these type of cars and the constant use of power even with everything turned off and doors locked. So the easy answer is to buy a trickle charger and no more worries.

Interestingly, the YouTube channel ā€œYour Auto Advocateā€ recommends asking the dealer for a reading of the battery level whenever you take delivery of a new car. They explain that the cost of replacement falls on the dealer since if itā€™s low/ruined the manufacturer recognizes this is due to dealer negligence.

In the context of the Supra issues, if they show you a 100% charge but the light is on you can make them perform the ECU reset prior to driving off the lot...

Itā€™s also a good idea to hold the power button on the radio every time you exit the car. This puts the electrical system in the mode with lowest draw.

During my brief flirtation with Supra ownership, I got in the habit of doing this and never had an issue with the battery. Mine was delivered right off the truck though.
