Hey guys I’ve read a lot of forms about Stock tire sizes but seems to always have someone start talking about 20inch rims, after market rims or hell they they just start bringing up tires on a whole different car then an MK5. This form is specifically on if you have the stock 19inch Toyota Supra rims still on your car what tire sizes did you upgraded to and how are they driving? I’ve heard 255-275 tires for the front and anywhere from 285-305 tires the back. Thank you

I went with 255/295, stock rims. Keep it in line with other performance cars with the front size. I don’t really get going bigger in the front. Compare: 911s (235/295; 245/305), the C8 (245/305), and the GT-R (255/285), etc.

awesome! On the 295s did you do 295/35? Also does your car still handle well not only just going straight.

I would go with the 265/285 and stick with the stock 35 profile.

Porsche, C8's don't need a huge front tire. The majority of their weight is shifted to the back (911 even more so) so the front doesn't have to deal with as much and a reasonably sized tire for grip but smaller (235-255) will still allow good turn in weight, speed, and feel. They can get away and actually benefit from having those tire setups.

The GTR is closer to a 50/50 weight split, and if you look on the gtrforums in track spec most owners to increase the front tire width (the back they go insanely large because most are setup for straight line racing). On my GTR i ran 285 up front and 315 in the back. That was the most commonly used tire setup.

The Supra is front engine and 50/50 split. If you are going to tracking or canyon carving an ideal setup would be a square setup...then once you start pushing power up you will obviously have to run a bigger rear tire, but having a larger front tire will still benefit as you need more grip because the front has to deal with more weight.

Also at 265/285 your widths are still the same as how the car was engineered. Sports cars these days are engineered tire first, rest of the car to follow. Thats why a lot of sports cars have bespoke tires made for the car (example Michelin tires with stars on them). It means the tire is a MPSS but it is still a slightly varied MPSS for the specific car. Stock is 255/275 so 265/285 will at least keep the same ratio front to back.

So if you are canyon carving or tracking and like how the car drives but just want to turn everything up i would get 265/285

If you are building a straight line monster, highway queen, or drag car? Then yea, a smaller front tire is better as it will cause less drag and have a lower coefficient of friction and max the rear out as large as you can fit assuming you are going for big power
