Side Panel Vent Removal

Has anyone removed the side vent by the door? i was thinking of wrapping it a matte black. I've seen it done and like the break it makes to separate the panels. Just want to know some tips/tricks of removing it, to not risk damaging/scratching anything.

These are basically TRD replicas and have been out since the car released.
