What other vehicle were you thinking of buying, if you did not buy the Supra?

Still working on what to buy, keep. Here is what I'm considering:

Keep my Porsche 911 964
Sell/Trade 911 for Supra
Sell/Trade 911 for Porsche Cayman S
Sell/Trade 911 for C8 Corvette

Right now I eliminated the C* as I drove the Supra and it has enough power for me.
Keeping the 911 is getting harder as I'm more of a driver than a classic car owner.
I think this case really is dependent on what you're looking for out of the car. If I were in the market right now, and the prices were reflective of the MSRP, I'd likely have trouble between the Supra and Corvette. The only Cayman's worth it to me right now are the GT4 and GTS 4.0 which are both extremely expensive when compared to the other two.

Thank you, you are correct. I purchased the 911 about 13 years ago when they were rather unloved, to be a driver. Touring, track days, AX and such. Today they are rather in demand as classics, so I drive it differently, care for it differently, and frankly it costs a bunch to maintain a 30 year old "classic" car. I prefer to have a driver, like I had originally purchased the 911 for, driving tours, track days, AX and garage projects. I think the Supra is the perfect car for what I'm looking for, with that said, I'm very comfortable with Porsches. My ex-wife had a Boxster, and I had a Spec944 for SCCA Time Trials, so I feel a draw to that marc. Thank you for your input, I do value the opinions on this board.

RWhiz - If there is a way I would keep your Porsche and get the Supra. I think you'll regret it later if you sold your 911. Supra just started and will be here for many years. No rush swapping cars now unless you really need to.. (?)

I love my Supra, but I am a MT driver and so I must also have my MT cars next to my Supra to enjoy this hobby. If I could only keep one hobby car, I would opt for the Cayman MT.

I was between the Supra and a 2018/2019 Mercedes C63s AMG.

Pulled the trigger on one after months of looking for the right options, but the dealership said it was sold earlier that morning so I gave up and put a down payment on the Supra 5 minutes later.

After I confirmed my flight info to go get my Supra, the Mercedes dealership called and said their buyer's financing fell through

I'm glad I got the Supra, though. Definitely more fun

Thanks, You're not the first person to let me know that I'll regret selling the 911. Why this is a tough decision. I'm aware that next year my 911 will be worth more and the Supra will have lost 10-15% of it's value, which weighs on my thinking as well.

If I was in your position, I'd buy a high mileage A80. Maybe even a R32. Something like that I can't see depreciating significantly and you could also drive it and not feel bad. I didn't consider that this is your fun car. I use the Supra as a daily driver so not having a manual is a benefit in my case.

Ahhh yes, the old "the other buyer's financing fell through trick".
(You have to picture or hear Maxwell Smart saying that when you read it, LOL.)

I had that thrown at me three times in the last 3 months, while I was out vehicle shopping.
I always reply,, "Well awesome, I guess that car just wasn't for me to buy".
And then three months later that same car is still on their lot, and I get no less than 5 emails per week asking me to come in and take a look at it again, we really want to move the vehicle.
No thanks,, I tell them,, I've already made a purchase.

You made the right choice as I'm sure we all did. I feel quite confident and comfortable in this vehicle.

Hello all, new to the forum.

My first choice was a 2019 C7 Z06. However, I waited to pull the trigger on buying the Z06 because I wanted to see what the new C8 was going to look like and then the pricing.

After I got all the info., I went to put a deposit on the C8 and was told that I would be 567 out of 600 in line and wouldn't have my car delivered until 2021. This was in August 2019, a d before production started, which seemed crazy. So, I turned my attention to the ZO6.

I didn't like the look of the Supra when I saw it online, but when I went to pick up the tags to a Toyota Corolla Hybrid I purchased for my daughter I saw a launch edition in the show room and that changed everything. I figured I could be dead by the time that C8 was delivered and the C7 interior just looked outdated compared to the Supra's. Although I still think the C7 is one beautiful car, I am glad I pulled the trigger on the Supra. I modified it and it rides like stock and is faster than the C8 Stingray when I want to punch it. Also, I have only seen one (1) other Supra on the road. That was like spotting a unicorn. Happy to drive what others are not.

I had a few options, i was really scoping out great deals at the time, i was either looking into an E46 M3 and use the rest of the money to pretty much restore the hell out of it so it's basically bulletproof and throw a bunch of CSL stuff on it, then i was looking at E92 M3 Comp packages cause i love the sound of that small displacement V8, i also wanted an F80 M3 Comp because they just look soo damn good with a simple drop and spacers, i was looking into an R33 GTR since this also marked the first years of them being eligible for importing annnnnnnd last but not least, i looked into a MKIV Supra whether it was gonna be an imported one or a US spec. Sooo after coming to realization that i genuinely am lazy to fix my own car since i fix everyone elses car as my 9-5, i settled on the MKV because the practicality, the new platform, the B58 was already being projected into the 2jz capabilty range and at the time, it hasn't even been out for a year yet, and because Nitro Yellow looked soo damn good! Ever since i drove off the lot, i never regretted my decision. The MKV is definitely a head turner annnnd i'm the only Yellow one in southern San Diego that i know about, and 1 out of 5 owners in Southern San Diego that i know about or encountered sooo yeah, it feels good to be in that category as "one of the first".

That Nitro Yellow just might be the unicorn of Supras. They seem to be very rare even online.

GTR- primarily 2014 and up
4Runner TRD Pro- Brand new

But honestly, owning a Supra was always a dream of mine. It was one of the reasons why I pushed so hard through undergrad/graduate school! I remember sitting in a brand new Limited Edition 1997 TT Supra (green/tan interior) as a 9 year old with my older brother. We both sat in there for a while and even looked at the sticker price (57k). My bro said “we will never afford one,” I responded “one day I will.”. The rest is history.

Welcome aboard!
And you're right, to me,
The Supra just doesn't look so appealing in pictures. But in person, it speaks to me.

A lot of really good other vehicle options listed here. It's one I'm struggling with currently. Need something with speed in my life. I've had like 25 different cars over the past 15 years or so and the last several years I haven't had a sporty vehicle. The Supra is definitely on this list of options but I'm struggling. At it's price point you can buy so many different options. I think as for new, it's hard to beat for what it offers but there's a ton of used cars that fit around that $50k price. I like a lot of different stuff, 2 doors and performance sedans.

Some options I've been entertaining but am at a loss

MK5 Supra
RS3
Golf R
CTS-V newest gen.
GTR
Jaguar F-type R
C6 ZR1
C7 Z06
C63S AMG
S4
911 (997 or 991 possibly)
Cayman

One thing that constantly comes to mind when thinking about an option is depreciation. Some of these cars have a lot of depreciation that comes with them, I dont know if I can stomach that. The 911 probably makes the most sense out of all of those but they have extremely high maintenance and potential repair cost. Hmm... Options.. options..
