I've been blown away by the technology of sim racing and have decided to begin a new hobby.. How well sim racing now replicates real world driving makes it incredibly enticing. Force feedback wheels, load cell pedals, laser cut tracks, etc. Have a look:

You can get into it for a few hundred bucks for a decent experience, but I'm going all in. For anyone interested, here is the build plan:

1. $1,770 PC: Alienware R9, i7 9700k 8 core, RTX 2080 Super, 16 GB Ram, 512GH SSD

2. $1,140 Triple Monitors: BenQ EX3203R 1800r curved monitors, 144 hz, 1440p, HDR, Freesync

3. $1,760 Sim-Lab P1X. Includes: 80/20 Aluminum profile chassis, triple monitor mount, pedal slider baseplate & seat slider, bucket seat bracket set & seat slider, shifter side mount, buttkicker (motion simulator in seat) mounting plate, cup holder, keyboard tray, mouse pad

5. $400 Corbeau FX1 Pro Seat

6. $999 SimXperience AccuForce Pro V2 Direct Drive Force Feedback steering + wheel rim

7. $775.00 Heusinkveld (HE) Sprint Pedals + baseplate

8. $250 Shifter: Fanatec ClubSport Shifter

9. $200 Accessory: ButtKicker Gamer 2 with tubular adapter mount

TOTAL: $7,294

*This is considered a medium to medium-high end build.

Since this year, playing Project Cars 2 for fun.

Also had some fun with creating two liveries:

My setup is very basic:
  • I just have a widescreen and a Thurstmaster T500 RS wheels/pedals

Uploading videos for fun on youtube, my Project Cars 2 playlist

Awesome! I'm brand new - What games can you drive the new supra?? I have no idea how any of the gaming software works. It's going to be a big learning curve for me

The only game that I am aware of where you can by default drive the MKV Supra is "Gran Turismo Sport" on PS4.

PC sim racing games are mostly concentrating on the GT3 leagues.
iRacing is seen as the best online sim racing... but very expensive as it based on monthly fees (per track and per car).

I have chosen PC2 because it is still a sim racer (not as hardcore as iRacing) with up-to-date graphics.
And because I race for fun and it is not the only game I play (rencently started GTA online as it was made free to download the game :p)
Costed me 90€ on steam, which includes all of the DLC's

A nice video for comparing different PC sim racing games for beginners

I have an insanely cheap sim setup for Asetto Corsa. It is just a Logitech G27 I've had for years with no mods or hand brake. I just bolt it to my desk and use my office chair. I can still set great lap times and tandem drift on it. The key is all in the force feedback. If it's too weak, it's impossible to drive fast or control slides as that is the only feedback you get from the game versus the g-forces, seat feel, yaw, etc. that you do in a real car. If you had the same setup as me, including the computer, monitor, wheel, and game, it would amount to about $1200-1500.

Nice! I decided to start off a little cheaper and actually just made my first sim racing purchase a couple hours ago!

Nice wheels! GT Sports has GR Supra GT Cup series that you compete against other OEM GR supras.
Oh wow... oem Supras? I’ll def have to check that out. I wonder how well the physics of the car is in relation to real world driving. They always talk about iracing and assetto corsa as being “real” sims because of their ability to get the physics close to the real thing

The best physics and sounds are still present in rFactor 2.
But graphical wise... it so very out-dated.
Going to try the free demo of rFactor 2 :)

Gran Turismo (sports) is not considered as a sim, but is not an arcade either.
Less sim than Project Cars 2, but GT's main advantage is the amount of OEM cars

By the way... love your steering wheel :)

Will depend on the quality of the mod. Don't know how accurate it was made... but I don't think they had the engineering department of Toyota taking part of it to make all parameters fit.

But again.... curious :)

Old topic resurrection lol...
But yes... yes I am...
Rig on the left is custom motion 3 axis build I did several years ago, great fun, 27" triples or VR, 4 corner butt kickers running sim hub, fanatec, i9 10900k, RTX 3080 etc.
