I may be the first Supra to have a broken windshield and I hope this is not a flaw to the car. The windshields on the Prius are an issue and I hope this is not a trend. I was not even going fast at the time! entrance ramp to the interstate at about 30mph and a truck flew back in the right lane followed by the typical *crack* and a rather large immediate break. Overall it is better it broke the windshield than bounce off the car itself so I am not too upset (plus I am covered for this and while there will be some downtime this does not raise any insurance rates).

The windshield is 3 or less days away, for those who are wondering there are currently 44 windshields in the country. Following the replacement the camera will need to be recalibrated. The dealership needs to have the calibration equipment shipped in and will time it with the windshield. I am to expect the whole process to take 1.5 days once I drop the car off.

The OEM cost of the windshield is $535

2" north and it would have very much damaged the roof. I am considering a clear bra application.

Mine took a decent sized one to the windshield. It was loud, but I haven't seen any chips or anything resulting from it.

I don't think that paint protection film would have helped much if a rock hit your paint with that much force. I am thinking about PPF, but have some concerns about how it looks over time. If it takes a number of stone chip hits, I think you have to live with the damage to the film and agonize over when to replace it. It seems like you would have more options on touching up the paint itself.
The PPF clearly provides some protection, but other than for swirl mark type scratches, the self healing claims are very exaggerated.

When driving the Supra at the Track day event at Thruxton UK our windshield was cracked at the exact same area.

I have run Xpel on several of my cars, including SUV's and vehicles that went off-road occasionally. I think maybe once or twice did a rock actually manage to permanently damage the film. Every other time there was a small mark that disappeared with time.

Windshield repaired Using the techinfo site I disassembled most of the car myself so it was easy for Safelite to cut out the old glass and pop in the new glass. I did not find ANY information on camera calibration in the repair manual. Nevertheless as I am covered for it and the dealership made the arrangements for the tool, I will go through with it.

Safelite says I was the first windshield swap in the country.

The actual process..... no
The oem glass has a plastic clip on it that all the components attach to: camera, rain sensor, rear view mirror, garnish- so alignment seems ok. The car throws no errors after. I do not think the camera actually even needs to be recalibrated.

My windshield just ate a rock the size of a marble. Cracked it and made a good size line going up on the passenger side. Think dealer is the way to go or a different brand? Got the free windshield replacement.

This is my second car with a heads up display. The window is actually 2 thin windows with basically clear ppf film between the 2 pieces of glass. This film sandwhiched in between is what allows the heads up display to be so bright and holographic. The downside Is that the window seems even more brittle than a non heads up display window
