Did you know Ecutek supports the A91 Supra already?

We finally got time to have a look at some of the differences between the A90 and A91 stock calibrations.

With what EcuTek gives us access to I’m seeing about 1000 changes between the first A90 calibration and first A91 calibration. Here are some of the things that really stick out to me and is easy to show.

Ignition Timing – A91 runs 3-5 more degrees of timing

Charge Air Timing Compensation – A91 has more aggressive ignition compensation for charge air temp

Max Allow Clutch Torque – Max Allowed Torque doesn’t drop as quickly on the A91

Clutch Torque to Load – Map is skewed to allow more target load for the same requested torque values

Torque Limitation for Charge Air – A91 doesn’t limit requested torque as much when air temps rise

Burble – More burble in non-sport mode and less allowed burble at lower loads and higher engine rpm in sport mode.

Attached are some photos to view the differences. Check them out!

Awesome comparison. Thanks for upsetting the A90 owners :D

I love seeing stuff like this. Wish I had a way to compare my current map to the stock map to see what gets changed...I often feel at a loss for how to communicate what I feel to my tuner, and a better understanding would go a long way. These kinds of insights are fantastic, thanks for sharing Marshall!

Soooo what does that mean for us that don't speak ECU
There’s more ignition timing (more hp/tq) added, but my assumption is that it happens as long as there’s no knock detected i.e 93 octane only. Less timing decrease based on intake temperatures. Slightly less safeties I would say, but Toyota is able to do it due to the drop in compression IMHO.
More sound burble when in sport mode and regular mode due to changes in the ignition timing. Also, it looks like less torque management meaning more torque and less ECU interruption.

Cool comparison! But I thought 21’s had more of a tame exhaust?? Somewhere in this forum there was a side by side video of 20 vs 21 and 20 definitely sounded more aggressive.

It makes sense the compression ratio is lower on the 2021 and it runs advanced ignition timing allowing for more hp. What about the boost pressure vs 2020?

Would the 2020 be able to run the 2021 tune with the advanced ignition timing on normal 93 octane gas safely?

Can the burble be added in the 2020 in non sport mode too?

Interesting data for sure

I reach air temp torque limit on a daily basis now and it pulls power drastically north of 65c

Temps in Kuwait are insane. So I can see the ECU pulling lots of timing and controlling torque.

This is one reason we sell a ton of heat exchangers. LOL!
