Damn I hate Gorilla Glass 5.

I get that it's designed for impact resistance (drops) vs scratching which requires a harder material, but man this was the first phone in my life that I have ever scratched. It is also my first Samsung phone since my old school sliders, flip phones, and Blackjack II/Jack. I'd been using exclusively iPhones from the 4 to the 7+ and decided the X was not for me.

To be clear, I dont mind minor scratches, and this phone had minor scratches on the back the day I got it due to the soft glass, but no big deal I figured. It's been in a case as per usual and I wipe down the entire thing daily to remove dust and fingerprints after I shower. Something must have contacted that screen somewhere though because there are 3 fairly deep scratches on the left side of the display that you can feel with your fingernail.

Apparently this has been super common since the Note 7/S8 came out, but still disappointing. Paid the $200 deducitble today and I'm being sent a replacement...

The worst! :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

My S7 edge fell about 2ft onto the pavement, shattered. Been rocking the cracked glass for awhile now. Will probably move to an iphone 8 after this.

Ouchhhhh... I shattered the iP4 I had after I had it just shy of 2 years, specifically like 5 weeks before the iP5 came out. I had to pay the deductible and have it replaced just so I could have a phone to use until I upgraded.

So yeah, I feel ya :(

Man, I feel ya. Plus with the ridiculous curvy screens nowadays, glass screen protectors are almost all ill-fitting garbage. Got a couple solid scratches on my OP5, but thankfully they're towards the edges. :banghead:

Dammit, that sucks Guff, and I agree with the curved screens being an Achilles heal.

THat sucks Jeff! I also have the note 8 and aside from some very minor scratches its held up OK so far. And I am not easy on my phones. I actually tried a glass screen protector the other day, but it made the capacitive touch almost useless. Took it off right away. Hopefully the screen isn't too bad!
