Damn I hate Gorilla Glass 5.
I get that it's designed for impact resistance (drops) vs scratching which requires a harder material, but man this was the first phone in my life that I have ever scratched. It is also my first Samsung phone since my old school sliders, flip phones, and Blackjack II/Jack. I'd been using exclusively iPhones from the 4 to the 7+ and decided the X was not for me.
To be clear, I dont mind minor scratches, and this phone had minor scratches on the back the day I got it due to the soft glass, but no big deal I figured. It's been in a case as per usual and I wipe down the entire thing daily to remove dust and fingerprints after I shower. Something must have contacted that screen somewhere though because there are 3 fairly deep scratches on the left side of the display that you can feel with your fingernail.
Apparently this has been super common since the Note 7/S8 came out, but still disappointing. Paid the $200 deducitble today and I'm being sent a replacement...
